From design to completion it took five years. With no natural connection to the Douro, Cláudio Lima was inspired by the five senses, basing the concept of the accommodation on “the idea of providing guests with a genuine immersion in the rhythm of the Douro: waking up with the vineyards in view, tasting local products at breakfast delivered to the door, relaxing in the infinity pool or in the outdoor sauna, and ending the day by the outdoor fireplace, with the illuminated shutters acting as a authentic open-air art gallery”, explains Boa Cama Boa Mesa.
The consultant, with a professional background in companies such as Sonae and Airbus, discovered the “right piece of land”, overlooking the Douro landscape, where he installed a village with 11 accommodation units (from €150), including nine studios (T0, with around 30 m² and kitchenette) and two T2 villas, with around 80 m² and a fully equipped kitchen. “All units are independent and have large windows with views of the vineyards and mountains, combining comfort and privacy”, he describes.
Five Sabrosa Senses
In addition to the houses, the Five Sabrosa Senses features an infinity pool and outdoor sauna with views over the vineyards, a grassy area equipped with a children’s pool, a tennis court pickleball and relaxation areas on the lawn, “ideal for yoga, picnics or contemplation”. The views extend along the pedestrian paths integrated into the landscape, which invite you to discover the space to the rhythm of the Douro.
Every morning, breakfast – included in the stay – is delivered directly to the unit. Dinner and other complementary experiences – such as wine tasting, visits to farms, boat trips or picnics – require reservations through the digital platform. Because the region is also discovered through wine, a wine cellar with local references is available at reception, available for consumption on site or in the units. In the future, Cláudio Lima predicts, the project will be expanded “to a total of 20 accommodation units”, he anticipates.
