A new Channel 4 documentary examining the Beckham family’s recent fallout is set to air tonight.
The one-off project, Beckham: Family At War – Untold, will recount Brooklyn Peltz Beckham’s feud with his parents, former football star Sir David Beckham and ex-Spice Girl Victoria Beckham, which was recently made public in a bombshell social media post.
The eldest of the Beckhams’ four children shared a six-page Instagram story last week containing a number of accusations against his celebrity parents, including that they prioritise ‘Brand Beckham’ over everything else.
Examining the internet’s response and conversations sparked as a result of Brooklyn’s claims, the documentary will hear from experts in PR, showbiz personalities and psychologists, to get to the heart of how the pressure of being a ‘nepo baby’ manifests itself.
Produced by MultiStoryMedia, the show will also seek to explain why this story of strained relations built rapid momentum and ignited such widespread attention in the UK and wider world.
The stunning Instagram story made by Brooklyn on January 20 made clear that the aspiring chef did not want to ‘reconcile’ with his family.
He claimed at the time that his parents control narratives about his family in the press and tried to ‘ruin’ his relationship with his wife, Nicola Peltz Beckham, adding that she was not invited to his father’s 50th birthday party.
Brooklyn also alleged that Victoria ‘hijacked’ his first dance with Nicola at their wedding and danced ‘inappropriately on me’, while adding that he had never felt ‘more uncomfortable or humiliated’ in his life.
The following day, David appeared to respond to the statement and told US outlet CNBC’s Squawk Box that parents must let their children ‘make mistakes’.
What does Metro make of the Beckham family drama?
Our Assistant Entertainment Editor Brooke Ivey Johnson shares her thoughts on whether Brand Beckham is already recovering…
He stated: ‘It can be dangerous, but what I’ve found personally, especially with my kids as well, use it (social media) for the right reasons.
‘I’ve tried to do the same with my children to educate them. They make mistakes. Children are allowed to make mistakes. That’s how they learn.’
Since then, DJ Fat Tony, who performed at the three-day wedding, told ITV’s This Morning that Nicola was in tears at her wedding after Lady Beckham had the first dance with her husband.
He alleged that US singer Marc Anthony was on stage when he asked for ‘the most beautiful woman in the room’ to come to the stage, with guests believing it was for Nicola’s first dance with Brooklyn.
Instead, Victoria is said to have been called to the stage by Anthony and asked to dance with her son, which made Nicola leave the room crying.
Last week, David seemingly showed support for singer Marc by interacting with him on social media.
Marc shared a post with his 13.9million followers, promoting his upcoming Las Vegas residency, which was liked by David.
This came before Brooklyn and Nicola were reportedly offered a ‘seven-figure deal to write a tell-all book’.
Beckham: Family At War – Untold will be available to watch and stream on Channel 4 on demand at 10pm on Wednesday January 28.
