Durham University has been named The Times and The Sunday Times University of the Year. They have also been ranked third this year, beaten only by LSE and St. Andrews.
Oxford and Cambridge both fall out of the top three universities in their ranking for the first time in 32 years.
Durham is now in the top five university for all three major UK rankings: The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide (3rd); The Complete University Guide (5th), The Guardian University Guide (5th).
We are also a top 100 university in the worldwide QS World University Rankings 2026.
The Times declared that, through winning University of the Year, Durham “dismisses ‘Oxbridge reject’ stereotype.”
Durham achieved high student satisfaction rates, with teaching quality and graduate prospects also scoring impressively.
Ultimately, Durham achieved a score of 906 out of a possible 1000.
