New Look has always been a go-to for fashion at affordable prices. But in recent years the high street retailer has really turned it up a notch with its incredibly chic clothes and accessories.
Case in point are New Look’s Contrast Trim Faux Leather Slingback Pumps, which we think look very similar to Chanel’s iconic Slingback Heels that fetch a pretty penny (and then some).
The Contrast Trim Faux Leather Slingback Pumps from New Look retail for £32.99, while the original designer footwear cost a steep £910. So, of course we’re shopping the high street pair to save us £877 – it’s just a no brainer.

Contrast Trim Faux Leather Slingback Pumps
Crafted from faux leather fabric, these slingback pumps feature a square toe in black to contrast the rest of the cream shoe. The slingback design features an ankle strap with buckle fastening to secure in place. It also boasts a 4.8cm block heel. The shoes are fitted with a flexible sole, have heel to toe padding and are fully cushioned with a thick foam lining for optimum comfort.Available in UK shoe sizes 3 to 8.
When we first locked eyes on New Look’s Slingback Pumps I genuinely had to double take, as they look almost identical to the real deal.
The New Look design features a cream body, though it’s described as white on the website, with a contrast black toe detail. Now we know Chanel’s Slingback Heels come in a variety of colours and fabrics, but we think these share the most likeness with Chanel’s beige and black variation.
The Contrast Trim Faux Leather Slingback Pumps have a square toe, whereas Chanel’s design boast a round and slightly pointed toe.
While both slingback designs feature an ankle strap, Chanel’s creation is elasticated, whereas New Look’s version have a buckle strap, which we prefer the idea of to ensure a secure fit. After all, the elastic can tend to go.
The two shoes also feature a chunky block heel, however, the heel height is slightly different. Yes, Chanel’s Slingbacks come in various heel heights, but the mid height measure 6.5cm in height, which is higher than New Look’s 4.8cm heel. Now, I don’t know about you but I am already a tall girl, and I am opting for shorter block heels for day and night, so the latter appeals to me more.
Of course, another standout difference is the heel on the Chanel design features the iconic CC logo.
New Look has crafted its Slingback Pumps out of a faux leather fabric, which has seen these shoes registered by The Vegan Society as completely animal free. However, Chanel has used goatskin and grosgrain to create the original design, hence the three-figure price.
I have relied on New Look shoes for decades as they are ultra comfortable. Staying true to form New Look has championed comfort with its slingbacks as it features heel to toe padding, thick cushioned foam, as well as flexible insoles, so you can wear for hours on end.
We would style both shoes the exact same way. Pair with ankle grazer jeans, tailored trousers, even a midi skirt or dress, to see you from the office to wedding season and date nights in between.
Yes, there may be a few subtle stylistic differences, but considering the price and versatility we would pick New Look’s Contrast Trim Faux Leather Slingback Pumps time and time again.
