New Resident Evil Requiem trailer gives Leon S. Kennedy a chainsaw

The rumours were true and Leon is in Resident Evil Requiem, as Capcom announce a release date for Pragmata and a new Mega Man game.

Although Sony did recently leak artwork featuring Leon S. Kennedy, the fact that everyone’s favourite rescuer of presidential offspring is in Resident Evil Requiem has been rumoured for over a year now.

The new Game Awards trailer features a small amount of gameplay and shows Leon fighting close quarters, but in a manner very reminiscent of Resident Evil 4, although this time he’s the one that gets to use the chainsaw.

Publisher Capcom has previously said the whole game can be played from either first or third person perspectives, but everything shown of Leon was in third person – so maybe that option is only for main character Grace Ashcroft.

The other reveal was that the old guy from the first trailer is a new character called Dr Victor Gideon, and not, as some had theorised, Alfred Ashford from Code: Veronica. Leon’s partner Hunnigan, from Resident Evil 4, seems to be back though, as that definitely sounds like her on the radio.

There’s not much else to discern from the trailer, although the other big leak this month, this time from US store GameStop, implied that Rose Winters from Resident Evil Village is also playable. So far though, there’s been no official confirmation that she’s in the game.

It was a retail leak, hawking extra cosmetics for the character, so she must be in it somehow. But perhaps not as a playable character, or maybe only for a limited time – like Chris Redfield in Village.

She’s obviously not a secret though or the retail link wouldn’t have been advertising her, so it’s a little odd that Capcom hasn’t mentioned her yet.

There’s not much time before the game’s release either, as Resident Evil Requiem will launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and v on February 27, 2026.

Capcom always makes good use of The Game Awards, and they also announced a release date for original IP Pragmata, for April 24, 2026 – as well as the fact that it will also now be released on Nintendo Switch 2.

On top of that, a free gameplay demo should be available by the time you read this. We strongly advise giving it a go, as we thoroughly enjoyed our time with the game, in a hands-on session earlier this year.

What is the new Mega Man game from Capcom?

Capcom also announced a brand new game, in the form of Mega Man: Dual Override. Although it doesn’t look quite as old school as the last few attempts to keep the series going it’s still a 2D action platformer, that may struggle to impress anyone that didn’t grow up with the series.

That includes most of Europe, where the series has never been popular, but we’re interested to see if this new one retains the rock hard difficult of the previous games.

Although we won’t find out until 2027, when the game’s released on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.

When is the new Street Fighter movie out?

Last, and arguably least, there was the first trailer for the new Street Fightermovie which… well, at least the haircuts are authentic.

After the trailer the whole of the main cast appeared on stage and shouted at each other a bit, which presumably was meant to encourage people to go and see the movie.

The film’s out in October next year and stars Jason Momoa as Blanka, Roman Reigns as Akuma, 50 Cent as Balrog, and David Dastmalchian as M. Bison.
