Coldplay’s Chris Martin made a surprise appearance at a wedding, serenading the couple during their first dance.
The singer, 48, gave the newlyweds a live performance of his song All My Love which was released in 2024.
The couple, from Stafford, were celebrating their wedding at Blithfield Lakeside Barns in Rugeley, and danced to the song without realising it was the Yellow singer at first.
The singer went incognito in a woollen hat and jeans and made the kind gesture to make an appearance after being invited by the couple’s family.
Venue owner Alex Brown said the groom’s mother contacted the band in the hopes of receiving a custom video to wish the pair good luck on their special day
However, the family and venue team were shocked and delighted when they replied saying ‘we can do one better’.
At the end of the performance, Chris greeted the couple quickly to wish them well and then quickly peeled off, exiting through the glass doors.
He told the crowd of guests: ‘See you later!’ as he left the venue.
Chris has been on an epic world tour with Coldplay bandmates Jonny Buckland, Guy Berryman, and Will Champion. Their Music of the Spheres show began in 2022 and finished in September 2025.
While he may have stopped touring for now, it’s clear he still loves the occasional live performance or two. And the Yellow singer isn’t the first A-lister to ambush a wedding and serenade the guests.
Sophie Ellis Bextor ‘gatecrashed’ an Irish wedding to sing a song to the attendees earlier this year.
The Murder on the Dancefloor singer, 46, joined a special day at Ashford Lodge in Mayo, Ireland, as she was staying in the hotel and had just played at another wedding in the castle.
She belted out her best-known hit while rocking heart-shaped sunglasses, trainers, and a cheeseburger-shaped backpack, showing this was truly a spontaneous appearance.
In 2016, Taylor Swift surprised two Swifties when she performed a surprise gig at their wedding, singing an acoustic version of her hit, Blank Space.
Ed Sheeran also surprised partygoers at a wedding in 2015 to perform Thinking Out Loud, for a couple’s first dance.
