In an interview with “Los Periodistas”, Senator Gerardo Fernández Noroña gave details of the trip he will make to Palestinian territory. He announced that one of the issues he will address with the Palestinian authorities will be the possibility of Mexico receiving girls and boys orphaned or injured by the conflict.
Mexico City, October 21 (However).- The Senator Gerardo Fernández Norona assured that the trip he will make in the coming days to Palestineaims to propose to the authorities of that country to give political asylum to children who were orphaned due to Israel’s attacks.
“One of the issues is the issue of children who can come to Mexico, which is an issue that I have raised for a long time, and that the President expressed her agreement if the Palestinian authority accepts and in the current circumstances we are going to see what they are thinking about that and other issues,” said Noroña in an interview with Alejandro Páez and Álvaro Delgado on the program “The Journalists” which is broadcast through the SinEmbargo Al Aire YouTube channel.
Fernández Noroña indicated that this initiative seeks to replicate what General Lázaro Cárdenas did in 1937 when he gave political asylum to more than 400 Spanish children exiled by the war.
“Exactly as General Lázaro Cárdenas did with the boys and girls of Spain. We have insisted, we will discuss it with the Palestinian authority in Palestine that the orphans who are experiencing the effects of the war are the ones in the greatest state of defenselessness because if someone who has a father and mother is suffering and dying of hunger, then an orphaned boy or girl is in a condition of brutal vulnerability.”
Noroña mentioned that the Government of Mexico seeks to initially help five minors who lost limbs during the attacks so that they can be treated in our country.
“We will be very respectful of the assessment that the Palestinian authority has, we will insist on that possibility and respect the opinion and path that they propose. From the outset they requested help with five children who lost limbs during the attacks to receive medical care in Mexico and that commitment is about to materialize. Whatever they ask of us and we can help, our people and our government have been absolutely supportive.”
Fernández Noroña explained that he will meet in Palestine with politicians from that country who will be in charge of transporting him to various places.
“It’s going to be a hard trip, a difficult trip because the one who has control of the territory is Israel. The Palestinian authority with whom I am going to meet is not enough, I am going to tour the territory and I am going to go where they want me to go. I don’t know what the places are, but I am going to tour the territory to bear witness to the conditions in which the Palestinian people are living. If they take me to Gaza, I will go to Gaza wherever they take me, I will go. I am no hero, I am no martyr, I don’t want to die, but I don’t want to stop making my contribution to making sure that stops.”
Senator Fernández Noroña, who has been involved in controversy and scandals recently due to his trips on private flights and the purchase of a mansion, revealed this Tuesday that he will request permission from the Senate to travel to Palestine, which has been suffering for years from a campaign of ethnic cleansing and genocide at the hands of Israel.
“Do what bothers them. If I ask for a license, bad. If I don’t ask for a license, bad. If I pay for the trip, bad. If I don’t pay for it, bad. If it’s with public money, bad. What bothers them is that it exists, it doesn’t matter what I do,” he concluded.
