NORTH AUGUSTA, Sc. (WJBF)- After what seemed like a short summer break, today students will be kicking off a new school year in Aiken County.
Aiken County School District continues to use the year-round school calendar.
And North Augusta teachers and staff have been preparing for the first day of school.
The school principal says the yellow jackets had a great performance last school year and hopes to carry that momentum over to this year.
As well, the new state cell phone policy is in effect.
They want to make sure that policy is in place and they’re working to improve communication with parents.
“To continue building trust for our families and improving communication. We know that our student, sometimes is a little older, sometimes they’re driving, sometimes they’re working. But that doesn’t mean their parents will be any less informed. We want to keep them just as informed as we would any kid in elementary or middle school,” said principal Casey Rogers, North Augusta High School.
Newschannel 6 also spoke with an English teacher for North Augusta High School, and she explained what her main goal was for the seniors this year.
“My main goal is to get them across the finish line and that whatever they do outside of high school is going to be amazing for them. And so we just focus on some real-world things, make sure we know how to do an email properly, that we know how to present ourselves.”
