Old clips used by Israel in a campaign against Hamas in Gaza news

Israeli accounts – some of them official – launched a massive digital campaign on social media platforms aimed at portraying the measures taken by the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) in Gaza against outlaws, agents and thieves as operations of repression and violence against civilians.

These accounts focused on scenes that accompanied some security pursuits, ignoring the context in which they took place and that it was a campaign announced by the movement to “pursue outlaws” after months of security chaos that accompanied the war on Gaza.

Israeli accounts have also been filled with new video clips coming out of Gaza over the past few days, showing members of the Sahm unit holding accountable a number of agents, thieves and drug dealers who were exposed during the war. The “Gaza Wood” account deliberately re-published a video clip showing a citizen from Gaza being pursued by security personnel on charges of drug trafficking, according to what the “Arrow” unit explained in its original post, but the Israeli account presented the clip in a different way, as it wrote in its comment: “Hamas kidnapped a citizen from Gaza who appeared in a video clip thanking Trump, and appeared breaking his legs. Israeli-American journalist Emily Schrader also re-published the same clip on her account on the “X” platform, and commented, saying: “Hamas breaks the legs of a civilian in Gaza for appearing in a video in which he said: Thank you, Trump.”

However, a review of the original source showed that the video was published on October 18 via the “Share unit” on the Telegram application, attached to the person’s name and his declared charge of drug promotion, which confirms that the incident is criminal in nature and not as it was portrayed in the Israeli discourse.

This momentum in the circulation of clips and pictures against Hamas coincided with a statement issued by the US State Department that spoke of “credible reports” indicating an imminent violation of the ceasefire by the movement in Gaza. The statement said that any potential attack of this kind would constitute a “direct and serious violation of the ceasefire agreement, and would undermine the progress achieved thanks to mediation efforts.”

The United States has informed the guarantor nations of the Gaza peace agreement of credible reports indicating an imminent ceasefire violation by Hamas against the people of Gaza.

On the other hand, Hamas rejected what was stated in the American statement, and described the American allegations as false and in line with misleading Israeli propaganda.

The movement said in a press statement: “Hamas rejects the allegations contained in the US State Department’s statement, and completely denies the allegations against it of an imminent attack, or a violation of the ceasefire agreement.
