Gals, a UK uni student is competing in the 2025 series of The Great British Bake Off. 23-year-old Jasmine Mitchell is putting us all to shame with her achievements, honestly. Here’s a look at what she gets up to when she’s not stressing over sponge cakes in the Bake Off tent.
Jasmine Mitchell is studying medicine at uni
Jasmine grew up in Edinburgh. She’s the youngest contestant in the tent this year. She studied her undergraduate medicine degree at the University of St Andrews, and graduated in 2024. Jasmine then moved in with her cousins in London for the next stage of her studies. Her friend Daisy egged her on to apply for Bake Off.
As well as being a uni student and a Bake Off contestant, she seems to have, like, 1,000 hobbies. According to the Bake Off website, “When she’s not in hospital placements, Jasmine’s likely sea swimming, running half marathons or playing hockey for her university team.” And, like, perfecting the art of cake-making to the extent she was picked for a national, televised, oddly competitive baking contest. Honestly, how does she have the time?

Her family taught her how to bake
Jasmine learned how to bake from her mum and aunts. They would make lots of sweet treats together during family holidays in the Scottish Highlands. Nawww.

Apparently, “Baking has become her creative outlet, and she likes nothing better than using fresh, seasonal ingredients to create classic flavour combinations.” She does actually pick blackberries herself to bake in cakes, which is pretty dedicated.
Jasmine shares lots of pics of her bakes on Instagram, including recipes she used on Bake Off. Her friend group must have a constant supply of snacks.
