Time has not healed Louis Tomlinson’s feelings toward YouTuber and influencer Logan Paul.
Back in 2022, Tomlinson’s One Direction bandmate Liam Payne appeared on Paul’s Impaulsive podcast, where he made a number of controversial and disparaging remarks about his fellow One Direction members, particularly Zayn Malik.
Payne later apologized and said he spent 100 days in rehab after the interview aired. But now, one year after Payne’s tragic death, Tomlinson revealed he still hasn’t forgiven Paul for his role in the saga.
“I f—–g forever despise [Logan Paul], horrible, horrible little f—-r,” Tomlinson told The Independent in a new interview.
“I think that’s also the problem with some of this new ‘media.’ I would like to think most journalists … some journalists have a duty of care.”
Whatever negative feelings Payne may have produced with his comments, they have long since dissipated. Tomlinson clearly forgave his friend and colleague, who he said everyone in One Direction looked up to.
“So many. Just real, fun moments,” Tomlinson told The Independent regarding his lasting memories of Payne. “Liam would always entertain me. If I was bored and wanted to have a laugh, he would play that role.”
Payne owned up to ‘Impaulsive’ remarks
After his stint in rehab following the release of the episode with Paul, Payne, who appeared to be drinking whiskey throughout the interview, apologized to his fans and band members in a July 2023 video.
“I think for me, a lot of what I said just came from the wrong place,” Payne said in the clip. “I was so angry at what was going on around me that instead of taking a look inwards I decided to take it outwards.”
Payne died on Oct. 16, 2024 at the age of 31 when he fell from the balcony of his third-story hotel room at the Casa Sur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
At the time of his death, Payne had a blood-alcohol content four times above the legal limit, along with traces of multiple drugs in his blood stream.
