When played outside, football is a game that doesn’t stop for the elements. A little wind and rain is just part of the job for players and coaches.
In the case of this Sunday’s Week 7 NFL game between the Cleveland Browns and Miami Dolphins, there might be more than a little bit of both conditions. The Browns are hosting the battle of 1-5 teams, and possible severe weather is on the horizon.
As Fox Sports radio personality Andy Slater noted, potential 50-60 mph wind guests are in the forecast, in addition to a 94% chance of rain as of Thursday.
“The National Weather Service says this is ‘certainly a system worth keeping an eye on’ as a stronger storm may materialize,” Slater wrote.
Temperatures will be in the mid-to-high 60s, so neither heat nor cold will be a factor. Everything else seems like it could be a mess though.
Kickoff for Browns-Dolphins is set for 1 p.m. ET Sunday from Huntington Bank Field in Cleveland.
A battle of two of the NFL’s worst
Like we said, football is played in bad weather, but neither of these teams really needs any degree of difficulty added at the moment.
The Browns and Dolphins both enter Sunday with 1-5 records. They currently hold the No. 2 and No. 4 picks in the 2026 NFL Draft respectively, according to Tankathon.
Both head coaches–Kevin Stefanski in Cleveland and Mike McDaniel in Miami–are on the hot seat, and both teams have produced headlines centered around the quarterback position, but not in the way NFL organizations want.
Much of the chatter surrounding the Browns this season has been about the future of rookie fifth-round pick Shedeur Sanders. Sanders, who began the season as the team’s No. 3 quarterback, is now the backup to fellow rookie Dillon Gabriel after Joe Flacco was traded.
Meanwhile, Dolphins starter Tua Tagovailoa drew negative attention when he publicly called out teammates for being late to meetings after last week’s loss to the Los Angeles Chargers.
Tagovailoa has since apologized for the comments.
