War. War never changes… but the ways that you can watch Prime Video’s hit adaptation of the video game series Fallout do change. In anticipation of the upcoming second season of the retro-futuristic, post-apocalyptic show, Amazon is making the first season free to stream on Samsung TV Plus.
Fallout Is a Prime Hit
Fallout, which stars Ella Purnell as a naive young woman who emerges from an underground bunker to discover just how weird the world has gotten in the 200 years since a nuclear war destroyed and/or mutated society as we know it, premiered in April 2024 on Prime Video. Season two debuts on December 17. On that same day, the entire eight-episode first season will be made free to stream even for viewers who don’t subscribe to Prime Video. But, there’s a small catch.
Samsung TV Plus is Samsung’s free ad-supported streaming television service, also known as a FAST service. Pluto and Tubi are other examples of FAST services. As the name suggests, these apps are totally free, albeit interrupted by ads now and then. Samsung TV Plus is only available on Samsung TVs and devices, including Galaxy phones and tablets. People who have a Roku TV or an Apple device will not be able to download Samsung TV Plus to watch Fallout. Still, if you do happen to have a Samsung device, it’s a good deal.
Season two of Fallout, which stars Purnell and returning season one protagonists Aaron Moten and Walton Goggins, debuts on Prime Video (not Samsung TV Plus) on December 17. Episodes will be released weekly rather than dumped as one binge. The new season is set in the ruins of Las Vegas, and since Fallout: New Vegas is one of the most beloved video games in the series, expectations are high.
A New Update for Fallout 76 Ties Into the Show, too
Fallout‘s first season hitting Samsung TV Plus isn’t the only notable development in the Fallout world to coincide with the new season. An update to the MMO Fallout 76 called Fallout 76: Burning Springs is adding a whole new region to the world and introducing The Ghoul, Goggin’s bounty hunter character from the TV show, to the video games.
Burning Springs is the largest addition of new content to Fallout 76 since the game launched in 2018, and it promises to feature tie-ins to the Prime Video series and other Fallout games.
