‘Only Murders in the Building’ Season 6 is Headed to London: Here’s Why

With Only Murders in the Building having wrapped its fifth season and finding the Lester’s (Teddy Coluca) killer, Hulu announced a Season 6 renewal. The sixth season will be the first time the Hulu series and its characters travel outside the U.S., across the pond to London.

The Season 6 finale teased a new tangled mystery for Mabel (Selena Gomez), Oliver (Martin Short), and Charles (Steve Martin) to solve and here’s why London will be the new landscape for the murder investigation.

What Happened in the Finale?

After uncovering Lester’s killer, the finale jumps ahead three months, where the trio starts listening to Cinda Canning’s (Tina Fey) London-based podcast, “The Girl with the Curls.” As Canning tells her story via voiceover, audiences see a bright red-haired woman running through the streets of New York.

Canning reveals that while she was on holiday in London, she became obsessed with jasmine tea and the mystery surrounding a curly red-haired woman. The woman is seen leaving bloody handprints on the walls before she collapses in front of the Arconia gates.

Mabel, Charles, and Oliver happen to be leaving the Arconia when they stumble upon the red-haired woman. As they debate on whether her death is considered to have taken place in the Arconia, per their podcast title, the woman wakes up and places her hand on the building gate.

As a result, the woman’s death is now within Arconia’s property, and her mystery is the responsibility of the investigative trio. The Only Murders in the Building Season 5 finale ends with the woman’s face revealed to be Canning herself.

Mabel, Oliver, and Charles Are Headed to London

It’s no surprise that the trio’s first trip together abroad is for a murder mystery. Based on the clues given in the finale, it’s up to them to uncover the death of Canning and what she was involved in.

In her podcast voiceover, Canning details the mystery of the red-haired woman being the “prime suspect in the murder of a royal descendant.” She also described the public going agaisnt her and the British tabloids causing threats against her life.

Knowing of Mabel, Charles, and Oliver’s penchant for solving crimes, Canning decides to take the risk, and the only way to prove her innocence is with their help. The only way to look for clues and answers is at the scene of the crime: London.
