AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF)- Many of you may know someone who needs help with recovery from addiction and don’t where to start looking for help.
That’s why one organization called Open Arms Outreach is trying to fix that.
Drugs, alcohol, addiction, it never goes away. It consumes people, and they look for help but it’s hard to find. That’s why Open Arms Outreach wants to change that here in Augusta.
“They can expect to, number one, feel seen and heard. That’s the most important thing we try to figure out, like what people’s most immediate needs are, whether it be education around safer use, if they are engaging with drug use or recovery support, if that’s something that they want,” said co-founder of Open Arms Outreach, Dolly Neese.
They don’t have a location just yet, but it hasn’t stopped them from helping people month after month.
“We pass out literally hundreds of doses of Narcan every month. We help probably dozens of people. We start conversations with them about what’s next for them, like where do they see themselves? What do they want?” Neese said.
You can contact them through email at narcan.augusta@gmail.com or follow them on Facebook at Open Arms Outreach Augusta.
