Muñoz points out that it combats cellular damage, “that means that it helps combat cellular damage caused by free radicals, something that is directly related to aging and many diseases.”

Oregano contains carvacrol and thymol, two natural compounds with antimicrobial effects. And what does this mean? Which can help stop bacteria, such as Clostridium perfringens, viruses, parasites and even fungi.

As a home remedy to help digestion and reduce gas (carminative effect), it is recommended to drink this warm infusion after main meals.

Ingredients

1 cup of water (approximately 250 – 300 ml)

1 teaspoon dried oregano leaves or a small sprig of fresh oregano

Honey, lemon or sweetener to taste (optional)

Preparation mode

1.- Pour the cup of water into a pot and bring to the boiling point.

2.- Remove from heat once the water has boiled, immediately remove it from the heat source. This is key to prevent excessive heat from evaporating the essential oils of oregano, where much of its medicinal power resides.

3.- Add the teaspoon of dried oregano (or the fresh sprig) to the hot water.

4.- Cover the pot or cup so that the vapors do not escape. Let the infusion rest for a period of 5 to 10 minutes. The longer it sits, the more concentrated the drink will be.

5.- Strain, serve and enjoy.
