Orlando Pirates confirm SIXTH player departure

Orlando Pirates are clearing the decks as the Sea Robbers aim to mount a Betway Premiership title challenge next season.

So far, Innocent Maela, Miguel Timm, Thabiso Monyane and Paseka Mako have all left the club.

Talented midfield player Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo can be added to that list, while Monnapule Saleng is wrapping up a loan return to Orbit College.

Details: Saleng returns to Orbit College

Orlando Pirates release Ndlondlo

Ndabayithethwa ‘Phillip’ Ndlondlo has battled to establish himself in the Orlando Pirates first team. The diminutive playmaker moved from Marumo Gallants in 2022 and has made 65 appearances, with three goals and three assists. Such is the competition for places in midfield that the 30-year-old is unlikely to feature in 2025-2026. Chippa United is rumoured to be a potential next destination.

“The Club extends its sincere gratitude to Phillip for his professionalism and commitment during his spell at Orlando Pirates and wishes him every success in the next chapter of his career.”

Saleng and Kimvuidi to follow

With concrete interest in the services of Karim Kimvuidi, the player will finally be granted his wish to leave the Pirates. Since arriving from Maritzburg in July 2023, he’s only managed 37 appearances for the club.

Why has Saleng extended his Pirates deal?

Monnapule Saleng’s exile from the first team at Pirates has been a puzzling issue. Now, with the arrival of Oswin Appollis and the continuing emergence of Mohau Nkota, his pathway to first-team football is blocked. The board is presumably protecting the player’s future resale value, especially if he impresses while out on loan and attracts bids for his services.
