From no signings in January to suddenly welcoming a flurry of established stars, Orlando Pirates recently broke the news of five arrivals.
AmaZulu FC winger Tshepang Moremi and Stellenbosch midfielder Sihle Nduli, along with Sinoxolo Kwayiba, Yanela Mbuthuma, Masindi Nemtajela, Sipho Mbule, Tshepo Mashiloane, and Nkosikhona Ndaba will report for duty on July 1.
Each player is a star in their own right, signifying a remarkable seven-player haul by the Buccaneers, who are desperate to end Mamelodi Sundowns’ eight-year PSL reign.
What’s happening with Saleng?
With two additional attackers joining the ranks, things are not looking good for Monnapule Saleng’s future at Orlando Pirates. However, it will be fascinating to see how the new coach, Abdeslam Ouaddou, handles the situation.
If the Moroccan-French manager wants to keep him, he could act as a peacemaker between the player and the club. Saleng hasn’t featured for the Buccaneers since December 7.
Meanwhile, Ouaddou is reportedly keen on a reunion with Marumo Gallants striker Junior Zindigo, a player Orlando Pirates have previously tried to sign.
“He was doing well before he picked up an unfortunate injury,” a source revealed. “But even then, several clubs were monitoring him, Pirates included. Now that they’re coached by someone who knows him well and is a big fan of his style, there’s definitely a stronger possibility.”
