It’s been reported that the friendship between Love Island girlies Molly-Mae Hague and Maura Higgins isn’t the same as it once was. Previously, the girls have said they’re besties, and described their relationship as the best thing to have happened to them after the show.
But, according to reports, that has all changed. The friendship between the former besties is now said to be “hanging by a thread” and it’s all down to something Maura did. According to The Sun, they have drifted apart in the last few months. Now, the rift is heightened as they both have rival haircare deals, happening at the same time.
The drama is said to have started when Maura was accused of kissing married Danny Jones at the Brits 2025. At the after party of the event, footage emerged of what seemingly showed I’m A Celeb 2024 cast members Danny Jones and Maura Higgins sharing a kiss.
Those close to Molly-Mae said the division between herself and Maura stemmed from the Danny incident. It was claimed Molly was left “feeling uncomfortable” by what Maura did, and it soon became “the main reason for the change in their friendship”. Molly is said to have since been “quietly removing” herself from the friendship.

The insider said: “Molly hasn’t defriended Maura or anything as savage as that. But she was left with a horrible taste in her mouth after seeing her and Danny. It gave her the ick seeing one of her best friends kissing a married man – she just couldn’t get her head around it and why she did it, especially after she knew how devastating it was for Molly having to cope with Tommy’s cheating rumours that she faced just a few months before that drunken kiss.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if she felt beyond disappointed in Maura. I doubt she understands why she did that, and although she says it was a drunken mistake, Molly has no sympathy – she was pretty sad to see a woman do that to another woman.”
Now, things have “fallen apart” between the girls. The insider continued: “The two girls recently had product launches just days apart. Some people noticed and wondered whether they were going head-to-head, and there was even talk on how Maura was trying to ‘get one up’ on Molly, but regardless if she was or wasn’t, it just highlights how much they have drifted recently.”
The insider said Molly-Mae and Maura “haven’t had a row over it or anything like that” but the friendship definitely isn’t what it once was.
Ouch.
