Customers have been alerted to the recall of more than 3,000 pounds of a popular fish item sold at Costco stores nationwide.
Western United Fish Company of Kent, Washington, issued the recall on Saturday, earmarking 3,314.7 lbs. of Kirkland Signature Ahi Tuna Wasabi Poke to be pulled from shelves. The item has been recalled over the possibility that the green onions in the package may have been exposed to listeria.
Listeria could cause symptoms such as fever, headaches, nausea, diarrhea and vomiting, with potentially serious infections resulting in children, the elderly and others with compromised immune systems.
“This recall was initiated after being notified by our green onion supplier of a Listeria monocytogenes positive test result in the green onions which were used only in Ahi Tuna Wasabi Poke on 9/17/2025,” the recall notice reads. “We are continuing to work with our green onion supplier to determine the root cause.”
What to know
The good news so far is that no illnesses have been reported because of his product. The recalled batches, which come in clear plastic clamshell containers bearing the Kirkland signature logo, also contain a pack date of Sept. 18, 2025. and a sell by date of Sept. 22, 2025.
Kirkland Signature Ahi Tuna Wasabi Poke was sold in the deli area of Costco warehouses located in the following 33 states.
Alabama, Alaska, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, and Wisconsin.
What to do
If you’ve purchased one of the versions of the product named in this recall, you should dispose of it immediately and contact your local Costco for a full refund.
