Sean “Diddy” Combs had an unexpected reaction after watching videos of “freak-offs” during his trial.
The jury was set to see this video evidence in court on 17th June. The judge told the court Combs requested “10 minutes to review the materials” before the testimonies began that morning. Combs had to watch the videos in a private room, as the public can see his monitor. Although the trial was schedule to resume that day at 9am, Combs didn’t emerge until 9:15am, according to the Mirror. Diddy was seen licking his lips, rubbing his hands together, and smiling.
The videos came from an account that was allegedly linked to Combs, on a phone which his ex-girlfriend Casandra “Cassie” Ventura handed over as evidence. One video is from 14th October 2012, when the prosecutors say Combs had a “freak-off” with Ventura and a sex worker.
The jurors at the trial watched approximately 20 minutes of videos from Sean “Diddy” Combs’s “freak-offs” from October 2012, October 2014 and December 2014. Jurors watched the clips in three to four-minute sections. The jurors had to wear earphones, to prevent the courtroom gallery from hearing what was in the videos.
According to CNN, most jurors were “stone-faced” while watching the videos. One member of the jury put her hand over her eye, and another appeared to wince.
DeLeassa Penland, a special agent for the US Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York, was in the witness stand. According to USA Today, she appeared uncomfortable while the videos were played. She seemed to shut her eyes and wince.
Combs is on trial for racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution. He is pleading not guilty to these charges.
