Man Utd target ‘waiting for transfer’ as Ruben Amorim’s side consider move

Emiliano Martinez is still interested in a move to Manchester United as they weigh up a move for the Aston Villa goalkeeper, according to reports in Argentina.
Martinez, who signed from Arsenal for £17m back in 2020, has an uncertain future at Villa and was visibly upset as he walked around the ground following the final home game of last season.
Villa’s difficult financial situation has led to speculation Martinez could be sold this summer, with several Premier League clubs linked with moves.
There has also been attention outside England, however, with TyC Sports suggesting that Galatasaray are willing to make an offer as they seek to replace long-time first choice Fernando Muslera.
Additional reports, however, suggest that Martinez is not looking to leave the Premier League and is ‘waiting for’ an approach from United.

The Red Devils are said to have made contact with the Argentine keeper over a move but have not made a concrete proposal at this stage.
According to Bolavip, any deal for Martinez is unlikely to advance unless United are able to sell current first-choice keeper Andre Onana.

Onana has endured a mixed spell at Old Trafford and was even dropped by Ruben Amorim at one point last season after a series of poor performances.
United are said to be happy to ‘entertain offers’ to sell Onana, who has previously attracted interest from Saudi Arabia.

Martinez was asked about his future at Aston Villa ahead of Argentina’s recent World Cup qualifiers and refused to play down speculation he could be set for a summer move.
‘My future? I don’t know, I come here to play for the national team, and that’s the only thing that matters to me right now,’ he said.
‘Do I want to move to a new club? The transfer window just opened, so there’s still a long way to go.’
Villa manager Unai Emery, meanwhile, gave a defiant response to the Martinez transfer rumours on the final day of last Premier League season.
TNT Sports reporter Jules Breach said: ‘Will today potentially be the final time we see Emiliano Martinez play for Aston Villa?’
‘No way,’ Emery replied.
