I’ve always loved Stacey Solomon. But the bikini pics have led me to a startling realisation… and deep unease

I LOVE Stacey Solomon, I really do.

I’ve known her since she was on The X Factor as an ambitious 20-year-old and felt for her when her latest reality show ‘Stacey and Joe’ was slammed – why, then, did the pics of her glorious curves this week hit me like a ton of bricks?

But Stacey was abused by vile trolls for showing off her natural body
BackGrid

As she posed in her orange bikini on holiday in Lake Como this week, she looked happy, healthy and carefree.

Sadly the vile trolls unleashed a torrent of abuse on her with one cruelly saying “She’s let herself go” while another added “Ozempic needed”.

And as I absorbed the comments, it hit me how long it had been since I had seen a celebrity body that looked like my own.

Recently it feels like on social media I am constantly bombarded with tiny toned bodies, perfect pert bums and impossibly flat stomachs.

Even when I put down my phone it’s on our TV screens as the new season of Love Island kicked off with girls in barely-there bikinis and not one belly roll in sight.

It’s quite a worrying trend and it’s left me feeling uneasy that being thin is so back en vogue.

I grew up in the era where pals lived by Kate Moss’s mantra ‘Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels’.

Having struggled with my weight since my teens and having tried (and failed) to do every fad diet going,  I’ve always felt inadequate.

I was grateful for the rise of the body confident movement, and I totally embraced it.

Finally I could feel comfortable in my own skin because celebrities like Adele, Rebel Wilson and Lizzo – who looked like me – were saying they felt sexy, too.

But over the last 12 months I’ve seen curvier (and actually not-so-curvy) celebs slim down at an accelerated rate with the rise of fat jabs.

Everyone has the right to do what they want with their bodies and lose weight however they choose and there are certainly health benefits to slimming down.

But this new quick fix means our celebrities are smaller than ever and I think it’s making people forget what real women look like.

The cult of thin is back in such a big way and it’s depressing for those who aren’t getting on board and sacrificing themselves to weight loss injections in a bid to be a skinny minny.

Stacey, who is a busy mum to Zachary, 17, Leighton, 12, Rex, five, Rose, three and two-year-old Belle, has never shied away from celebrating her ‘mum bod’.

Stacey’s success is not determined by the size on her clothes label

And it is refreshing to see a typical healthy woman in the public eye.

It makes me feel that it would be OK for me to get my body out this summer on holiday.

Two years ago, the 35-year-old, who is married to Joe Swash, revealed to her followers she’s a size 10-12.

The average woman in the UK is a size 16 so while she is still smaller than most women, she is still being judged.

The Loose Women star is also maintaining a healthy lifestyle, often working out in her newly built home gym where she aims to be strong not skinny.

Standing in front of a mirror she said: “I thought it was really important to come on here and say when I take the gym clothes off I look like this…” before pulling down her leggings down past her hips to show off unfiltered and non-photoshopped body.

She added, “…Which is also really pretty and a really lovely body and I just feel like it’s important to show that.”

Stacey is one of our most successful Brit celebrities with over 6.1m followers.

Strong not skinny

She’s got a host of TV shows and successful brand deals and is even rumoured to be taking part in this year’s Strictly Come Dancing.

In a sea of size zero Ozempic loving stars, maintaining her realistic normal body is perhaps why she’s still winning over audiences.

Stacey’s success is not determined by the size on her label.

I’m grateful, like many other women, that she prefers to give us an injection of her relatable and funny personality rather than injecting a weight loss drug into her body!

Levison gushed over his new partner and said he’s embarking on a ‘new chapter’[/caption]

In one snap, Levison cosied up to the brunette woman during a stroll.

They wrapped up in winter coats, with Levison in a black padded jacket and the new lady in his life wearing a black coat and a khaki beanie hat.

He then shared a candid snap of her looking content as she glanced out of a window.

While another photo showed them exploring the outdoors and on adventures – including them canoeing and in front a picturesque mountain backdrop.

The former Army officer wrote: “Over the years I’ve met many people on the road, but every now and then, someone comes along who doesn’t just travel with you, but changes the pace of the journey entirely. This is Ana.

“We’ve been exploring a shared path together lately, one filled with plenty of adventures, challenges and commitment.

“An exciting new chapter awaits.”

Levison previously told The Sun about his dating life and admitted in 2023 that he’s not short of offers since he started making his shows for Channel 4 in 2015.

Levison even got advice, however unconventional, on landing a wife during his adventures, the most recent of which saw him travel to Namibia, in southern Africa, to film desert lions.

He said: “The lead woman in the Himba tribe initiated me into the tribe by putting clay dreadlocks in my hair, which she said would make me look a lot more stylish.

“They also have this test for men, a sort of coming of age ceremony when they are 12, where they get their bottom two front teeth knocked out with a brick.

“I’ve obviously still got my teeth, and they were taking the p*** out of me, saying, ‘You’re never going to find a wife and get married if you’ve got those teeth’.”

He said: “I’d love to have a family one day, but I don’t think there is any need to follow convention and settle down at all.

“Sod that, I’m more up for continuing the adventures, no matter what. But I try to avoid talking about finding someone and love, as the last time I did, I ended up with a stalker.”

In 2020 the said stalker was jailed for three months after more than eight months of harassment during which the woman contacted Levison’s parents and turned up outside his house in South West London.

Speaking about his brush with a stalker, he told The Times: “I’ve had some persistent fans over the years but this was on another level.

“It went from being a nuisance to her contacting family members, turning up outside my house. It wasn’t nice: I was looking over my shoulder wherever I went.

“I was reluctant at first to contact the police because last year I felt they had bigger things to deal with.

“It felt embarrassing more than anything. Women get this a lot more than blokes do, so it was a real learning curve to be on the receiving end.”

Levison went public with his stalker hell on Instagram in 2020 when he said the person in question had “taken it to the next level” by contacting his family.

He wrote at the time: “So the stalker has taken it to the next level and started to message my parents. @brumpolice pls advise is there anything that can be done?

“She claims to be a paediatric doctor and records show her license was revoked. This person needs to be removed from any contact with kids.”

The star later added: “I’ve blocked this psycho three times today. @instagram does nothing and said individual just sets up new account and puts vile and obscene comments all over my wall.”

Levison is known for his Channel 4 documentary From Russia To Iran: Crossing The Wild Frontier.

He is formerly a member of the British Army and has fought in the war in Afghanistan.

In 2010, Levison decided to leave the Army and started pursuing a career in photography and journalism before going on to become a best-selling author.

However, in 2021 he decided to rejoin as a Major in the 77th Brigade which was only formed in January 2015.

The TV star previously revealed he nearly died while filming for a documentary after his taxi plunged off a 500ft down a cliff face in Western Nepal, while also experiencing other close calls.

He told The Sun: “The times I’ve been closest to death weren’t in the Army but on expedition.

“For this series, in Greenland there was a real risk our boat could have been crushed by ice as the waters change direction with the wind, and in the desert you’re up against wild animals.

“Our crew got chased by a lion in Namibia. I had to dive into the back of the car because one was bounding towards me. That was slightly terrifying.

“There are risks everywhere and you have to be very, very vigilant.

“You can imagine the length of the safety form that needs to be filled out. But everyone accepts there are loads of risks. If you want to show people these stories some- body has to be out there on the front line.

“At least I’m not getting shot at this time.”

Award-winning Italian restaurant to close after nine years blaming Budget tax hikes

AN AWARD-WINNING Italian restaurant is set to close down for good – and the owner blames Rachel Reeves.

Margot is a classic food spot in the heart of London‘s Covent Garden and customers flocked there to grab fine dining for nine years.

The Chancellor’s hike to national insurance contributions and minimum wage for firms kicked in at the start of April[/caption]

But now an Instagram post has announced the Italian is shutting down after “National Insurance costs imposed on us in this year’s Budget”.

Margot – which opened in 2016 – will close its doors at the end of this month.

It was shortlisted for the Catey Best Newcomer award in 2019.

A spokesperson told customers: “Thanks for being part of our story.

“Dear friends and valued guests.

“After much reflection, and as a result of the substantial business rate and National Insurance costs imposed on us in this year’s Budget, we have made the decision to close Margot.

“Our final day of service is June 28, 2025.

“We are deeply grateful for the support, memories and meals we’ve shared with this wonderful community.

“Thank you for allowing us to serve you. Your loyalty and encouragement have meant everything to us.

“Though this chapter is ending, we have proud of what we have built and we’ll carry these memories with us always.”

The Chancellor’s hike to national insurance contributions and minimum wage for firms kicked in at the start of April.

The NI rise has hit investment, recruitment and prices.

Businesses were dealt the £25 billion ‘Jobs tax’ raid at the Budget with the increased contributions as confidence among entrepreneurs taking a hit.

From April 6, businesses  have to pay a higher rate of employer National Insurance contributions (NICs) of 15% from 13.8%.

The threshold at which they are paid is also being lowered from £9,100 to £5,000.

The Government confirmed it was making the changes in its Autumn Budget last October in a bid to increase revenue.

It also said the move meant it wasn’t increasing taxes for working people.

However, it will have an impact on shoppers and everyday consumers as businesses look to pass on the additional costs.

Figures show that almost a third of businesses affected by the hike are planning to cut jobs or freeze hiring.

It comes on the back of 160,000 part-time retail jobs are on the cusp of going in the next two years due to a rise in Labour costs.

Love Island beauty reveals terrifying ordeal after she’s followed by man and forced to flee screaming

LOVE Island star Patsy Field has revealed a terrifying ordeal in which she was forced to flee in terror after being followed by a man near her home.

The star, who rose to fame on last summer‘s edition of the ITV2 dating series, took to TikTok to reveal the worrying encounter in which she actively described how she was pursued by a man who appeared to be following her.

Patsy told her followers that she had decided to head out for a walk in her local area in Bromley shortly after 8pm at night in order to walk off being “full of steak” after a plush family meal at Miller and Carter.

She told how her mum had discouraged her from walking late at night but Patsy insisted she was fine as she had never had problems in her area being out on her own but did confess to her fans that where she lives gets a “bad rep”.

Patsy continued in the clip as she said: “I’d got an outfit on which could be a bit revealing but like I said, I’d never had any issues before.

“I’ve always felt safe where I’m from.”

Detailing how she then went for the walk, she realised that ten minutes in there was a man walking close by.

Although she did not interact with him, Patsy told her followers that she decided to cross the road to be safe after being left concerned by how close the man was to her.

She then said: “I give it a couple of steps on the other side of the road and I thought, I’ll just check and I turn around and he’s crossed the road.”

Although this unsettled Patsy, she once again tried to give the benefit of the doubt by explaining that the man could have also crossed due to the parked cars at the side of the road.

In order to be sure, Patsy then told how she crossed back over the road once more and to her utter disbelief, the man once again followed suit.

Confessing she went into a panic, she decided to stand still and look at her phone, causing the man to pass her and walk ahead.

However, things took a more sinister turn when the man in question eventually turned back around and walked back along the path in Patsy’s direction.

Patsy said: “He starts walking back towards me and I’m like what the f*** is going on.”

Revealing she was still stood in the same place, she felt unnerved when the man made clear eye contact with her.

Fearing what could happen next, a panicked Patsy revealed she began to scream out loud and run in the opposite direction.

She also began to phone her mum who was able to come and collect her as she was close-by to the family home.

In a heartbreaking admission, the reality star said: “Now I’m scared to walk around my own area which is a shame as I’ve never had an issue before.”

Patsy first became known for her stint on Love Island last year.

She had an early exit in the series but returned for one of the show’s final episodes to be a part of the programme’s savage dumping – determined by the ex-Islanders.

New Match of the Day hosts sign up for huge reality TV show together as they rival each other for Gary Lineker’s job

NEW Match of the Day hosts Mark Chapman and Kelly Cates will make their debut on Celebrity Gogglebox this week.

The sports presenters will put their upcoming work rivalry aside when they slouch on Chapman’s sofa to watch some of the nation’s favourite shows.

Chapman revealed that the pair will watch the nation’s favourite shows from his sofa

Chapman and Cates were announced as Gary Lineker‘s Match of the Day replacements in January, with Gabby Logan making up the new-look trio.

But Logan won’t be tagging along to Chapman’s gaff with Cates for the National Award-winning Channel 4 show on Friday night at 9pm.

Lineker’s BBC exit has sparked a battle between his three successors over who will lead the World Cup coverage, SunSport exclusively revealed.

Insiders said that the three also be competing to take the main presenting job for next year’s FA Cup Final.

But Chapman, 51, and Cates, 49, will clearly compete on friendly terms, having signed up to join a star-studded Celebrity Gogglebox crew.

In a video to confirm their appearance on the show, Chapman said: “Hi it’s Mark and Kelly here. We are on Gogglebox on Friday and we’ve never watched telly together, have we?”

To which Cates said while laughing: “No, we’ve been on telly together but we’ve never actually watched anything we’ve done.”

And Chapman joked: “I invite Kelly around all the time but she always refuses. She’s hit the snacks already. Go on stuff your face.”

Cates initially cut in-between saying: “I refuse [to come round] for obvious reasons”, before admitting to having “a peanut stuck in her teeth.”

The pair aren’t the only sporting faces to join the hit Channel 4 show.

The Sun revealed that darts sensation and world champion Luke Littler will be pairing up with close pal and popular internet personality, AngryGinge on Friday.

It is yet another foray into the TV world for Luke who has seen his stardom rise over the past 18 months to become one of the country’s most talked-about sportsmen.

Olympics and Wimbledon host Clare Balding and her partner Alice will be back on Gogglebox, with reality TV star Jamie Laing pairing up with social media comedian Munya Chawawa.

Meanwhile Lineker, 64, confirmed The Sun’s story about his departure — announcing he was leaving the BBC early following an anti-Semitism row.

It scuppered plans for Mark, Gabby and Kelly to have supporting roles alongside him at his swansong during next summer’s World Cup in the US, Canada and Mexico.

Aldi shoppers rush to buy ‘beautiful’ garden must-have scanning at 50% less than high street brands

An image collage containing 1 images, Image 1 shows Aldi supermarket exterior

ALDI shoppers are racing to buy a “beautiful” garden middle-aisle bargain which is just half the price of other high street brands.

The Garden Bright Solar Glass Bird Bath is currently on sale for £17.99.

Similar solar glass bird baths are on sale at other UK retailers for more than double the price[/caption]

The bargain was spotted by a shopper in the Aldi UK Shoppers Facebook group, who posted a picture of the furniture item.

They wrote: “Managed to grab one in my local Aldi, so pleased as almost half the price of other places at £17.99. 3 different designs to choose from.”

Similar solar glass bird baths are on sale at other UK retailers for more than double the price.

For example, B&Q is selling a Taylor and Brown Solar Glass Bird Bath Fountain, with a hand-painted sunflower design, for £39.99.

Shoppers hailed Aldi’s bird bath as “beautiful”, with one replying to the Facebook post: “I want one”.

Others had already snapped up the item from Aldi’s middle-aisle.

One fan wrote: “I got the hummingbird one today – I love it, can’t wait for it to light up tonight!”

However, some shoppers who had purchased the bird bath shared valuable tips on how to care for it and prevent damage.

“Don’t leave them out over winter,” one user said. “If the water freezes they crack. I’ve had two go on my over the years.”

Another said: “Mine is fab keep in conservatory no prob.”

The bird bath is made of a glass bowl and metal stand, and features six cool white LED lights. It is 53cm high and 35.5cm in width.

It’s available in three animal-inspired designs – bee, hummingbird and peacock – while stocks last.

On its website, Aldi says: “Make sure the birds have a stylish and safe space included in your garden this summer with this Solar Bird Bath.”

The product will only be available to buy in stores, however, as Aldi doesn’t offer a home delivery service.

As well as the bird bath, Aldi is also selling a Solar Blossom Tree for £19.99, featuring 100 LED lights and pink cherry blossom style flowers.

You can find your nearest Aldi branch by using the retailer’s store locator tool, found via stores.aldi.co.uk/store-finder.

If you want to find out what Aldi Specialbuys are in stores at any time, you can visit: aldi.co.uk/specialbuys.

How to save money on your food shop

Consumer reporter Sam Walker reveals how you can save hundreds of pounds a year:

Odd boxes – plenty of retailers offer slightly misshapen fruit and veg or surplus food at a discounted price.

Lidl sells five kilos of fruit and veg for just £1.50 through its Waste Not scheme while Aldi shoppers can get Too Good to Go bags which contain £10 worth of all kinds of products for £3.30.

Sainsbury’s also sells £2 “Taste Me, Don’t Waste Me” fruit and veg boxes to help shoppers reduced food waste and save cash.

Food waste apps – food waste apps work by helping shops, cafes, restaurants and other businesses shift stock that is due to go out of date and passing it on to members of the public.

Some of the most notable ones include Too Good to Go and Olio.

Too Good to Go’s app is free to sign up to and is used by millions of people across the UK, letting users buy food at a discount.

Olio works similarly, except users can collect both food and other household items for free from neighbours and businesses.

Yellow sticker bargains – yellow sticker bargains, sometimes orange and red in certain supermarkets, are a great way of getting food on the cheap.

But what time to head out to get the best deals varies depending on the retailer. You can see the best times for each supermarket here.

Super cheap bargains – sign up to bargain hunter Facebook groups like Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK where shoppers regularly post hauls they’ve found on the cheap, including food finds.

“Downshift” – you will almost always save money going for a supermarket’s own-brand economy lines rather than premium brands.

The move to lower-tier ranges, also known as “downshifting” and hailed by consumer expert Martin Lewis, could save you hundreds of pounds a year on your food shop.

Save money at Aldi

Keeping your eyes peeled for Aldi’s Specialbuys is a great way to save money at the retailer.

It’s also worth keeping an eye out for any red sticker products when you’re doing your grocery shopping, which are added to items going out of date or that are slightly damaged.

It’s best to get to your local store early if you’re looking for discounts, as Aldi tends to add the stickers to items in the morning.

This also tends to be the best time to get middle-aisle bargains, with shoppers sometimes queuing as early as 4am for some products.

You can also look out for Too Good to Go bags, which cost just £3.30 with £10 worth of food approaching its sell-by or use-by date.

Shoppers were quick to respond to news of the discount, with one saying they “need to go have a look”.

Another said: “Love the colour if my room was big enough I would go hunting.”

Shoppers also shared other deals they’ve managed to snap up in the Dunelm sale, with one writing: “I got my curtains in the sale in Dunelm, meant to have been £160 6ftx6ft blackouts got them for £10.”

How to compare prices to get the best deal

JUST because something is on offer, or is part of a sale, it doesn't mean it's always a good deal.

There are plenty of comparison websites out there that’ll check prices for you – so don’t be left paying more than you have to.

Most of them work by comparing the prices across hundreds of retailers.

Here are some that we recommend:

  • Google Shopping is a tool that lets users search for and compare prices for products across the web. Simply type in keywords, or a product number, to bring up search results.
  • Price Spy logs the history of how much something costs from over 3,000 different retailers, including Argos, Amazon, eBay and the supermarkets. Once you select an individual product you can quickly compare which stores have the best price and which have it in stock.
  • Idealo is another website that lets you compare prices between retailers. All shoppers need to do is search for the item they need and the website will rank them from the cheapest to the most expensive one.
  • CamelCamelCamel only works on goods being sold on Amazon. To use it, type in the URL of the product you want to check the price of.

Save on furniture at Dunelm

Dunelm often has sales and promotions offering up to 75% off, especially at certain times of the year.

It’s worth keeping an eye out for Black Friday and Boxing Day sales to bag a bargain.

You can also check the clearance page on the Dunelm website to find the latest discounts.

Other money-saving websites, such as cashback sites like TopCashback and Quidco, may also help you save by allowing you to earn money back on your spending.

Plus you can save by opting for free click-and-collect to avoid being hit with delivery fees.

Gabriel urges Arsenal to sign ‘phenomenal’ £67m transfer target this summer

Gabriel says he would be keen for Arsenal to sign Rodrygo from Real Madrid (Podpah Poscast)

Gabriel Magalhaes has endorsed Arsenal’s push to sign Real Madrid midfielder Rodrygo in the summer transfer window.

Mikel Arteta is keen for Arsenal to add another versatile attacking player to his squad alongside a new striker ahead of next season.

Rodrygo, meanwhile, was signed in a €45 million (£39.3m) deal from Brazilian side Santos in 2018 and has won 13 trophies during his time at Madrid, including three La Liga titles and the Champions League on two occasions.

However, Madrid have contemplated selling Rodrygo this summer and the 24-year-old is due to hold talks with new head coach Xabi Alonso before making a decision over his future at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Arsenal and Chelsea have already expressed an interest in signing Rodrygo this summer and it’s understood that Madrid would demand a €80m (£67.5m) transfer fee for the Brazil international, who finished this season with 14 goals and 10 assists in all competitions.

Gabriel plays alongside Rodrygo for Brazil’s national side and the defender admits he would have no hesitation in recommending the winger to Arsenal this summer.

During his appearance on the Podpah Podcast, Gabriel was asked if he knows whether Arsenal will sign Rodrygo this summer.

‘I don’t. No, I don’t, not really,’ Gabriel replied.

‘But I’d like obviously. Rodrygo is a phenomenon, for me. He’s not at Arsenal… If it depended on me, I’ve told people already, he’s a phenomenon.

‘His name is mentioned a lot. If it was up to me, of course.’

Speaking last month, Alonso gave no indication that he would allow Madrid to sell Rodrygo this summer.

‘Rodrygo is a Real Madrid player, and I will speak with everyone who is part of Real Madrid,’ Alonso said.

‘Rodrygo is a spectacular player and we will need him. He deserves it, and so do we.’
