Three Ukrainians who have been accused of setting fire to two properties and a car linked to Sir Keir Starmer’s home have appeared in court.

Ukrainian Roman Lavrynovych, 21, has been charged with three counts of arson with intent to endanger life over fires at two properties and a car linked to the Prime Minister.

Petro Pochynok, 34, who is also Ukrainian and Romanian national Stanislav Carpiuc, 26, who was born in Ukraine, are accused of conspiracy to commit arson with intent to endanger life.

The trio were arrested after emergency services responded to a fire at the Kentish Town home where Sir Keir lived before becoming PM and moving into 10 Downing Street.

Damage was caused to the property’s entrance, but nobody was hurt.

The PM is reportedly renting his Kentish Town home to his sister-in-law.

A car linked to Sir Keir was set alight in the early hours of May 8 in the same street.

Locals described hearing a ‘loud bang’ moments before the fire erupted.

And in the early hours of Sunday, firefighters dealt with a small fire at the front door of a house converted into flats in nearby Islington, which is also linked to the Prime Minister.

One person was assisted to safety via an internal staircase by crews wearing breathing apparatus, LFB said.

Sir Keir has described the fires as ‘an attack on democracy’.

Lavrynovych and Carpiuc appeared at the hearing via videolink from HMP Belmarsh, and spoke only to confirm their identities and dates of birth via an interpreter.

Ms Justice Cheema Grubb told the court that Pochynok had refused to leave his cell for the preliminary hearing.

All three defendants were remanded in custody to next appear for a plea and trial preparation hearing at the same court on October 17.

A provisional trial date was set for April 27 next year in front of a High Court judge.

A fourth person, a 48-year-old man, was arrested by police at Stansted Airport on Monday on suspicion of conspiracy to commit arson with intent to endanger life in connection with the incidents.

The Metropolitan Police said he had been released on bail until next month.

Manchester City are prepared to sell Jack Grealish for a £40 million fee in the summer transfer window, according to reports.

The 29-year-old has fallen out of favour at City and is not expected to be included in Pep Guardiola’s squad for their Club World Cup campaign this month.

Grealish’s status at City became clear towards the end of the season after he was left on the bench for the 1-0 defeat to Crystal Palace in the FA Cup final, while Guardiola sent on 19-year-old Claudio Echeverri for his debut in the second half instead of his £100m signing.

The England international was also left out of City’s squad entirely for their 2-0 win away to Fulham on the final day of the Premier League season.

The Sun reports that City have told Grealish to find a new club and are willing to take a £60m loss on the midfielder.

Grealish has plenty of interest from the Premier League with his former club Aston Villa in the running alongside Newcastle United, West Ham and Everton.

The midfielder still has two years remaining on his contract with City which is worth £300,000 a week.

On Thursday, Grealish hit back at criticism on social media after a user had supported Guardiola’s decision to drop him from City’s squad.

In response to a post from talkSPORT which claimed that former Villa striker Gabby Agbonlahor is ‘not happy’ with Guardiola for how he has treated Grealish, the City midfielder wrote: ‘What u want me to do score a [hat-trick] in 20 [minutes]?’

Another comment about Grealish’s form read: ‘Dude, Jack has been bad lately and I’m not surprised Pep did that.’

To which Grealish replied: ‘Haha, I’ve been bad lately? Score 3 goals in my last 3 appearances over 45 mins but okie dokie love x’.

When asked about his decision to leave Grealish out of City’s squad for their final Premier League game against Fulham, Guardiola said: ‘It was selection.

‘The last two months, month and a half there were five or six players at home every time and this time I decided for these guys. No more than that.

‘Of course Jack has to play. He’s an unbelievable player that has to play football every three days. It didn’t happen this season and last season either.

‘He needs to do it. With us or another place. It’s a question for Jack, his agent and the club.’
