United have also been in advanced talks to sign Mbeumo but so far they have been unable to reach an agreement with Brentford over a fee for the Cameroon international.
It’s understood that United’s initial offer for Mbeumo worth £55m after add-ons was rejected by Brentford last week.

The Mirror are now reporting that Spurs have entered the running to sign Mbeumo following Thomas Frank’s arrival at the north London club this week and a £70m bid worth £65m plus £5m in add-ons has been submitted to Brentford.

Spurs could also have an advantage with Frank having worked extensively alongside Mbeumo at Brentford for the past six seasons.
But Sky Sports report that Mbeumo would still prefer a move to United having already given an indication at the start of this month that Old Trafford is his first-choice destination.
The report adds that Tottenham are not completely out of the running with Mbeumo ‘more intrigued’ by a move to Spurs after their decision to replace Ange Postecoglou with Frank.
It’s understood that Brentford have been holding out for at least £60m for the 25-year-old, who scored 20 goals in the Premier League this season.
Spurs, meanwhile, are considering a move for Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo as an alternative option to Mbeumo.

The self-titled “Potato Queen” of the internet mixes Maris Piper spuds with condensed milk, double cream, vanilla and salt to make the no-churn treat.
She suggests adding pieces of maple bacon or crispy potato sticks to complete the offering.
Poppy, who has 5.5 million internet followers, said: “People might know me for my roasties, but now it’s time for potato-based desserts to enter the chat.
“Sounds a bit wild, I know — but trust me, it works. I love showing how everyday ingredients can surprise you.”
Poppy, of Bromsgrove, Worcs, added: “Maris Pipers give it that velvety, creamy texture while keeping the sweetness in check, and topped with a bit of maple bacon or potato sticks . . . you’re in summery dessert heaven.”
Savoury ice creams are gaining popularity, with chefs experimenting with ingredients such as olive oil, miso and beetroot in sweet and salty pairings.

ABEL Ferreira has been around.
So when he says that current wonderkid Estevao is something really special, it is time to pay attention
Estevao is the new wonderkid to come from BrazilGettyEstevao has played more than 50 games for Palmeiras before his 18th birthday[/caption]
Ferreira has had a long career as a right back in his native Portugal, coached there and in Greece before heading for Brazil, where for the last four and half years he has been the highly successful boss of Palmeiras.
He oversaw the start of the career of Real Madrid wonderkid Endrick, who scored Brazil’s winner at Wembley last year.
Ferreira, 46, says Chelsea’s newest arrival Estevao is “different from anything I’ve ever seen” — which means the kid must be something very special indeed.
It was in the middle of last year, in a post-match press conference, and Ferreira was fighting hard trying to stop himself from saying the words.
The deal officially goes through on June 1, but the small print means that he’ll still be wearing a Palmeiras shirt for a few more weeks.
Chelsea fans will be able to see their new teenage prodigy when Palmeiras take on Porto in their opening game in New Jersey on Sunday.
So what was it about this slightly built, unassuming youngster that had captivated Abel Ferreira so much?
In part, as you might expect from a coach who comes across as a young Jose Mourinho, it was a mentality thing.
He loved the way that Estevao, right from the start, was so unflustered by failure.
Ferreira would make a point of showing the Palmeiras youth players how, if a move did not come off, Estevao would dust himself down and, full of confidence, try something new.
EPAEstevao has a reputation as a brilliant dribbler[/caption]
AFPThe Brazilian teenager is predominantly left footed[/caption]
AFPWillian Estevao made his debut for Brazil last year aged 17[/caption]
At 17 he was taking crunch penalties and free kicks. This, then, is a skinny little player with a big heart.
But what absolutely leaps out is the talent – that kind of George Best -type balance that makes it appear that, while things are happening all too quickly for the defenders, he is operating in slow motion, sizing up his options and calculating their chances of success.
Left footed, he has been used on the right wing, where he can cut in and shoot, or go outside and cross.
And, to the delight of his coach, he has a keen understanding of the space that he needs to attack.
His first start came almost a year ago – April 11th 2024, in a game in the Copa Libertadores, South America’s Champions League, against a team from Uruguay.
Estevao made his mark, getting in at the far post to score with a header.
Club World Cup 2025 Guide
SOME of the world’s biggest clubs are heading Stateside for a MAMMOTH Club World Cup.
Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid, Man City, and Inter Miami are among the 32 teams taking part in the tournament, which runs from June 14 to July 13.
Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe, Erling Haaland, Ousmane Dembele, Cole Palmer and Harry Kane will be showing their skills to packed crowds across the US.
Los Blancos are favourites to lift the trophy in New York but will face stiff competition from around the globe.
It was not the type of goal that might have been expected from a player of his type, but it was the consequence of how he had read the situation and worked out where to go.
All of this brought back memories of another little player who at 17 had a similar capacity to understand what was going on around him – a certain Lionel Messi.
And at the start of his youth career, Estevao was nicknamed ‘Messinho.’
The name of that Uruguayan club, by the way, was Liverpool.
And all around the stadium, even on his debut as a starter, there was an understanding that he would soon be on the other side of the Atlantic, coming up against a much bigger club with the same name.
Palmeiras fans, and Brazilian supporters in general, are catching Estevao while they can.
Soon, though, watching him will be the privilege of the Chelsea faithful. And they should be genuinely excited.
It is hard to see how they can make use of all of the talent that they buy – Ecuadorian wonderkid Kendry Paez, for example, is having a tough time growing up in public.
His form has slumped, which is worrying just a few months before his move to England.
He could easily find himself out on loan, and lose momentum as a result.
Estevao, though, will demand inclusion. Chelsea supporters have the chance to follow the growth of the most dazzling talent to come out of Brazil since Neymar– but with much less of the baggage.
Estevao is a discreet figure. There is nothing histrionic about him, and instead of going to ground looking for fouls, he has the healthy habit of trying to stay on his feet.
And before long, Estevao will be bringing Stamford Bridge to its feet.

THE massive EuroMillions jackpot prize of £208million will roll over yet again after the money went unclaimed.
While the hefty sum wasn’t won players should still check their tickets to see if they can claim a smaller chunk of the total prize money on offer.
GettyThere were no winners of colossal jackpot of £208m[/caption]
The winning numbers tonight were 02, 28, 40, 43, 45 and the two lucky stars were 03 and 07.
In the previous draw, four players matched the five main and one star, but nobody matched all five and both the lucky stars.
The numbers on that draw on June 10 were 19, 36, 39, 40 and 45 and the two lucky stars were 5 and 6.
The prize money is now capped at £208 million and players will have a chance to win the huge sum on the next draw on Tuesday 17th June.
The final “Must Be Won” draw will be triggered after the fifth draw, which will be on Friday, June 20.
This means that the money will have to be given to someone that night.
Players can therefore win the huge sum of cash, without matching all five numbers and two lucky stars.
If no one matches the five numbers and two lucky stars, the fund will roll down to the next tier, meaning anyone who matches five numbers and one lucky star will share the £208 million sum.
If no one is a winner in this tier, then players who have matched just the five main numbers will share the prize.
The jackpot will keep moving down a tier, until there is a winner.
Andy Carter, Senior Winners’ Advisor at Allwyn, operator of The National Lottery, said, “Tuesday will see the incredible £208M EuroMillions jackpot still up for grabs.
“A win of this magnitude would create the biggest National Lottery winner this country has ever seen.
“Get your tickets early to ensure you’re in with a chance of a massive life-changing win.”
Tonight’s draw also saw 13 UK millionaires made through a special EuroMillions UK Millionaire Maker event.
UK EuroMillions players should check their tickets and contact the lottery team if they believe they are one of the lucky winners.
This year, the largest win was seen in January with £83million.
A previous EuroMillions lottery winner, who scooped an eye-watering £107million jackpot, has revealed why he went public with the news.
Neil Trotter bagged the whopping prize money and was faced with a huge decision whether or not to remain anonymous.
The 45-year-old chose to splash the cash and filled his driveway with a Jaguar and a Porsche – before upgrading their parking spaces to a luxury mansion.
But, Neil explained it can be tricky to go public because of pressure to provide people with money.
However, he was overjoyed to buy his sister a house, and help out family and friends privately.
He told the BBC: “It was quite tricky but I don’t really see that there’s any option [other] than to go public.
“If you want to live the dream – which is have the house, the money and spend it, you’ve got to go public.
“People have said in the past they would hide the money, I think £170million is going to be impossible to hide.
“This is the lake that I bought and the big house and I’m living my dream.”
But he did previously admit he has been hounded by people making up claims to snap up his cash.
He said: “I have had loads of people contact me on Facebook, I’ve probably got about four million kids in this country.
“Everyone wants a bit of money.”
Elsewhere, a lucky couple thought they’d only bagged £2.60 on the lottery – but soon discovered they had scooped the £61million jackpot.
Richard and Debbie Nuttall, both 54, from Colne, Lancashire, took home the life-changing sum in the EuroMillions draw.
The couple were enjoying a holiday in Fuerteventura, celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary, when they discovered the big win.
Richard revealed they originally thought they had won £2.60, but then received another email telling the pair to check their account.
“I thought it was odd and there must be a glitch in the system to get a duplicate email but I logged in again to my National Lottery account to check,” he explained.
“We were totally stunned, it said we had won over £61million,” said the winner.

2 days agoNew York StateComments Off on How five men stole £4.75m toilet from Blenheim Palace in just five minutes
AS bathroom breaks go, it was a quickie. Five men took just five minutes to steal a £4.75million solid gold toilet from Blenheim Palace, the Oxfordshire birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill.
The gang smashed their way into the stately home with sledge- hammers in the early hours.

Their goal was the 98kg 18-carat gold lavatory, an installation by conceptual artist Maurizio Cattelan called America that was installed in the palace just a week earlier.
The masked raiders ripped the working WC from the wall, causing water to cascade from cut pipes, then rolled it out of the palace and into a waiting VWGolf getaway car.
But within ten days of the audacious raid on September 14, 2019, police were being told the name of the man believed to be responsible: James ‘Jimmy’ Sheen.
Detective Superintendent Bruce Riddell said “community intelligence” — code for being ratted out — provided Sheen’s name.
The head of specialist operations at Thames Valley Police added: “He went to hospital the day after for an injury to his hand, which we think he got from going through the window.
“And as the investigations unfolded, thousands of the evidence exhibits were linked to him.
“On his phones we found voice messages of him trying to sell the gold.
“Then we found traces of gold in his pockets, and in a flatbed lorry there was a pair of gloves containing fragments of the gold and his DNA.”
‘Evidence overwhelming’
The career criminal — a member of the traveller community — will have another four years to think about where his heist has landed him, added to the 19 years he is already doing inside.
Jailing him at Oxford Crown Court yesterday, Judge Ian Pringle blasted: “This bold and brazen heist took no more than five-and-a-half minutes to complete. ‘America’ has never been seen again.”
Sheen was out of jail on licence when he planned the Blenheim raid.
He had received 14 years in 2010 when an innocent couple got caught in the spray from a shotgun during a shoot-out in Coventry with a rival traveller clan.
Builder Sheen, 40, ran a burglary gang from his slick end-of-terrace home on an Oxford council estate.
They broke into the National Horseracing Museum in Newmarket in May 2020, making off with the Ascot Gold Vase and two Doncaster cups, and stole tractors and other farm equipment, making an estimated £2.6million within a year.
Sheen also conned elderly customers out of hundreds of thousands of pounds for dodgy building work.
James Sheen was already in jail for 19 years – and has had an extra four years added to the sentencePACo-defendant Michael Jones was locked up for 27 months for helping plan the raidPA
Yesterday, a judge said he wasn’t satisfied Jones was one of the five masked men who actually took the golden loo.
He had denied that a visit to see the sparkly toilet the day before it was stolen was a reconnaissance trip, and described the experience of using it for real as “splendid”.
Sheen and four others smashed through two locked gates in a pair of stolen cars.
Sheen’s DNA was found on one of the hammers that was left behind.
Red-faced palace bosses admitted that the exhibit — which had been installed at Blenheim days earlier — was not covered by CCTV.
Chief executive Dominic Hare later told the BBC: “We took possession of this precious item and managed to lose it within a day.”
Cops found a mountain of dodgy messages on Sheen’s phone.
Two days after the raid, as he was laid up in hospital having an operation on an infected hand, Sheen texted gold dealer pal Fred Doe: “I got something right up your path.”
Sheen and four others smashed through two locked gates in a pair of stolen carsPASheen’s DNA was found on one of the hammers that was left behind in the raidCPS
The pair tried to flog the loot in London’s Hatton Garden area.
Det Supt Riddell said: “The evidence against James Sheen was so overwhelming he had no choice but to plead guilty.”
None of the gold has ever been recovered — but cops believe the toilet was broken up between the five thieves.
Prosecutors say Sheen had tried to sell the gold to Bora Guccuk, a boyfriend of glam Instagram model Chloe Othen, but the deal collapsed.
Hatton Garden jeweller Guccuk, 41, was cleared of money laundering in March.
Doe, 36, was found guilty but spared jail last month for his part in trying to sell on the metal.
Sheen’s WhatsApps suggest he pawned his share in Birmingham, pocketing £520,000.
Det Supt Bruce Riddell is now focusing on recouping Sheen’s ill-gotten gains.
He said: “Trading Standards have already identified almost £200,000 worth of assets that they’re in the process of recovering.”
The seasoned cop is also trying to bring the three other members of the five-strong heist gang to justice.
He appealed for anyone with information about the outstanding raiders to come forward, adding: “Relationships and allegiances change over the years.”

Ange Postecoglou has been lined up with a lucrative return to management
And now the riches of Saudi Arabia are keeping tabs on Postecoglou, with Pro League runners-up Al-Ahli eyeing a potential replacement for Matthias Jaissle.
Al-Ahli are understood to be looking at Postecoglou as a possible target should highly rated German coach Jaissle leave for RB Leipzig this summer.
The 37-year-old has now been tipped to return to Europe and was previously linked with the West Ham job before Graham Potter’s appointment.
Al-Ahli reportedly pay the Jaissle £9.6million-a-year, which would make him the third highest paid manager in the Premier League.
Postecoglou received a £5million payoff from Spurs after his sacking, along with a £2million bonus for winning the Europa League and qualification for next season’s Champions League in Bilbao.
He has previously worked in Asia when he was at Yokohama F Marinos in Japan and won the J1 League prior to winning the title with Celtic.

MATHEUS CUNHA hopes he can bring the spirit of Wayne Rooney back to Manchester United.

AFP - GettyCunha watched Manchester United win the Champions League in 2008[/caption]
That was around the time United became Cunha’s favourite club.
He watched them every week on the television at his grandma’s before going outside and playing on his own version of Old Trafford.
And of all the star names in Sir Alex Ferguson’s squad back then, it was former England captain Roo who stood out the most for the boy from Brazil.
Cunha, 26, saw some qualities in his new club’s 253-goal all-time leading scorer that he could relate to — and hopes he can bring to the modern-day squad.
The former Wolves and Atletico Madrid forward said: “I remember the whole squad at the time that I started to watch.
“I liked Rooney at the front. Wow! He is someone I have a lot of similar things in my game, as I always give everything.
“He was the No. 10, I remember it on his shirt and everyone loved the skills of the player — but he always brought more.
“He would slide tackle to try to take the ball, this kind of energy inside of him was a big example.”
It may be 17 years ago but Cunha can still name most of the players who helped United overcome Chelsea 6-5 on penalties in Moscow after the Champions League final finished 1-1 after extra-time.
He said: “Of course, I can mention a lot of the players.
GettyCunha has signed a contract until June 2030[/caption]
GettyHe insisted that Ruben Amorim helped convince him to join[/caption]
“Cristiano Ronaldo — everyone knows him, it is easy to talk about him. But Ryan Giggs as well.
Cunha’s performances at Molineux and his 17 goals for Wolves last season made him one of the hottest properties in the Premier League this summer.
United might be a hard sell to some players after the dismal season they have just endured.
There will be no European football next term after they limped home in 15th place with just 42 points — their lowest-ever total in Premier League history.
But after following the club since he was a boy growing up in Joao Pessoa the chance to put on the famous red shirt at the real Theatre of Dreams was an opportunity he could not turn down.
Cunha added: “Maybe outside people don’t understand my decision.
“But when you have always dreamed to play here, it’s easier to come to this decision.
“It’s hard to explain but for me, no one else is like United.
“I know it’s been a hard season for everyone, so my decision shows what this club is to me and what I believe this club can be.”
Recalling how he first fell in love with the Red Devils, he revealed: “My house didn’t have the channel to watch the Premier League and my cousin’s house didn’t have it either.
“He’s older than me and supports United — he showed me the way to start watching the Premier League and the need to support United. We could only watch the Premier League at my grandma’s house, so we organised to go every weekend.
“When we played together in the street, on the beach, on the gravel, we called those pitches Old Trafford.
“So, wow, it’s so hard to be here now thinking about the past — it’s very emotional for me.
“It’s the most common phrase you can say in this moment but yeah, it’s a dream come true for me.
“It’s my dream team, the team for me.”
In 2017 Cunha hoped his wish of one day playing for the Red Devils was about to come true when he competed against them for Coritiba in the youth team tournament the Dallas Cup.
He said: “One of the directors at Coritiba said a director from United had asked about me.
“I was so excited, imagining a dream when I go to United — but after that the conversations stopped.
“But I think this was the start of my journey. Playing against United was a dream. Wow!”
Eight years later, he has finally got his wish and Cunha believes it is coming at the perfect time for him.
And part of the move is down to manager Amorim who Cunha admitted helped convince him to make the switch.
He said: “I have a lot of faith in him. I hope he succeeds in conquering the world like he did in Portugal.
“I’m here to help the team and help him. All our discussions made my decision easier.”
There have been flashpoints during his 2½ seasons at Molineux — which started with a five-month loan spell in January 2023 — but now is the time to relax, knowing he has realised his ambition.
He added: “It’s the perfect time to come here and now I need to be calm. I’ve learned from my mistakes.
“There is not one player who does not come here and think about the glory days, all the times they won the Premier League.
“I want to put this club on top and do everything to help them conquer these things.”
