Gauteng will experience partly cloudy to cloudy conditions throughout the weekend, with weather systems from the southeast expected to influence local patterns.
“We have fine weather over the western part of the country, but Gauteng falls under partly cloudy to cloudy conditions,” said forecaster Phemelo Zonke.
Severe Weather Risks Near Gauteng
While Gauteng may avoid widespread rainfall, forecasters caution that conditions in nearby provinces could create risks. Severe thunderstorms, including heavy downpours, damaging winds, hail, and excessive lightning, remain a possibility.
In addition, high fire danger warnings have been issued for the northeastern Northern Cape, western North West, Free State, and northern interior of the Eastern Cape. Although Gauteng is not directly in the fire warning zone, residents are advised to remain cautious when travelling.
Looking ahead to Sunday and Monday
By Sunday, Gauteng will continue to see partly cloudy skies with the possibility of isolated showers, particularly in the eastern areas. Monday is forecast to bring lighter conditions with some rain predicted further along the northeastern regions of South Africa, while Gauteng is expected to remain stable.
With mild temperatures in Johannesburg and Pretoria, residents should prepare for possible shifts linked to cold front activity approaching from the southwest early next week.
