Bad Company singer Paul Rodgers is feeling better than ever after having survived multiple strokes and health concerns over the past few years. With the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony weeks away, he teases if the band will perform.
“Well, we may well. We’ll see how we go,” said Rodgers in an interview with Rolling Stone.
When asked if he wants to get on stage and sing, “Well, they want us to, and I may. I haven’t decided what songs to sing at this point in time. But it could be ‘Rock ‘n’ Roll Fantasy.'”
With Bad Company being inducted into the Hall of Fame, Rodgers also shares he’s a bit “nervous” to get on stage and accept the award. He isn’t used to making speeches of any kind, but says, “I’ll be ok.”
If Bad Company were to reunite and perform on stage, it would be a grand moment for Rodgers. Over the past decade, the singer has suffered 11 minor strokes and two major ones. He’s had to relearn to walk and talk again as a result.
Roger’s wife, Cynthia Kereluk, reveals that his sister also suffered a stroke and is in a wheelchair. Meanwhile, both of his parents had died from strokes and heart-related issues. Thanks to extensive therapy, Rogers is feeling good.
“I feel good. I feel very good. My health is great. I’m off all the drugs, no statin or Ramipril. It’s good to get off that stuff and just eat healthy and do lots of exercise,” he said.
He admits that singing was the last thing on his mind on the road to recovery, and instead focused on being able to walk and talk again. The Bad Company singer recently contributed his vocals for the new LP Can’t Get Enough: A Tribute to Bad Company.
When asked if a Hall of Fame performance might be Bad Company’s final show, singer Paul Rodgers refused to rule it out, joking, “I’ll never say never. I know that’s a James Bond movie. And hell froze over for the Eagles. You never say never.”
