Every night, the Love Island girlies go to the dressing room to get ready for the evening’s events, and this year they all have blue lips.
While doing their makeup, Shakira, Meg, Emma and a few of the others have all been shown with some sort of blue lipstick, and it’s not a beauty choice.
Now, I thought it was pretty obvious what was going on, but it seems as though a few people are a bit confused by the bizarre pigment.
The Love Island girls are all using lip stains, a new kind of lip product that’s gone viral this year as a popular alternative to lipsticks or glosses.
Lip stains temporarily stain your lips with colour, rather than sitting on top of your lips, so the shade doesn’t come off when you eat or drink.
The product absorbs into the top layer of the skin, so it creates a long-lasting lip tint that doesn’t transfer onto clothes either.
Blue is just a temporary application colour that you see while the shade develops. When you wipe it off, the stain is nude, pink or red underneath.

Turns out, a lot of people were actually quite confused, with one person writing on TikTok: “Ahhh I wondered why Shakira always has blue lips.”
“I wondered why shakira had blue lips at one point,” said another.
There are loads of different brands on the market, but the one the Love Islanders are using is called Wonderskin.
At £18 per tube, the lip stain comes in 18 shades that “don’t fade” and “literally last all day” according to the website.
“Our high-tech vegan formula hyper-stains for touch-up-free color that just won’t budge – while keeping lips soft and hydrated for hours,” it adds.
So, next time you see them all with blue lips, you’ll know they’re topping up their lip stain.
