
Flights have been suspended at an airport in Italy after a person was reportedly killed on the runway.
Operations have been suspended at the Milan Il Caravaggio International Airport today after an incident.
Flights have been cancelled and diverted to nearby airports after reports of an accident on the runway at about 10.20am local time.
Sacbo, the operator of Milan Bergamo, said on social media: ‘SACBO announces that flight operations at Milan Bergamo Airport were suspended at 10:20 am due to a problem that occurred on the taxiway. The causes of the problem are currently being investigated by the authorities.’
Reports have emerged that the person may have been sucked into one of the engines.
Flight Emergency claimed a person was ‘ingested into one of the engines of an aircraft.’
Footage shows emergency services gathered around a passenger plane stopped on the runway and near the left engine.
One person is thought to have died on the runway, according to Malpensa News.
Ryanair is one of the airlines operating at the airport, and many of its flights were listed as canceled on Flightradar24.
