When it comes to health and fitness, two of the more popular names in the landscape are Andrew Huberman and Peter Attia. The duo has previously spoken on several key health topics, with Huberman specifically offering fitness advice on his Huberman Lab podcast. Attia features a similar approach on The Drive podcast, covering several health topics and beneficial approaches. Now, they’ve teamed up to talk about the four key pillars of longevity fitness.
This focus stems from Attia’s popular book, Outlive: The Science & Art of Longevity, which is currently available. Many of the practices that Attia and Huberman have discussed throughout the years can often work hand-in-hand, specifically regarding the workout functions and discussions involving dopamine levels and various supplements.

Attia sat down previously with Huberman on the Huberman Lab podcast to discuss the four pillars of longevity fitness. He discussed three widely known and often talked about topics, including strength as a core piece, but also dove deeper into the topic of stability, which even Attia admitted is a tough one for many people.
- Strength
- Stability
- Aerobic efficiency
- Aerobic peak output
Attia’s breakdown spans across the entire clip, posted by Huberman Lab Clips, but begins around the 3:30 mark when discussing one core topic, which is stability.

2. Stability

Attia’s breakdown of health and longevity highlights how “foreign” the aspect of stability is to most people, understandably. He notes that it’s not a “sexy” approach to fitness, but it’s also crucial for overall longevity in fitness. However, Attia calls stability what “differentiates people who age well and people who don’t age well.”
While the four pillars of longevity, which are covered in Attia’s book, are all pivotal, it’s apparent through his own comments and breakdown that stability is one often overlooked. It’s also the toughest of the bunch for most people to learn, with a central focus on it.
