Plane passenger charged for allegedly hitting a child with ‘behavioural issues’ on a flight

A plane passenger has been charged with child abuse after allegedly hitting a boy who made fun of her on a flight.

Kristy Crampton was part of a group returning home to Maryland from the Walt Disney World resort in Orlando. According to the arrest report, a child in the group “was having behavioural issues” on the flight. The police have not revealed Kristy’s relationship to this child. Witnesses say the child and Kristy got into an argument. He called her “fat” and “Miss Piggy”. She took his phone from him. He suggested she was too “fat” to sit on the plane seat, and her pushed her arm off the armrest Kristy then allegedly smacked him, hit him with a water bottle, and pushed his head into the window.

A passenger on the flight said Kristy “was not correcting the child, she was abusing him, whipping the sh*t out of the kid”.

Afterwards, the child didn’t have any bruises on his face.

The flight attendants and the captain decided to call the police. She was arrested at Sanford-Orlando International Airport. Kristy told the police the child had been “very rude and disrespectful during their trip to Disney”. The police decided Kristy “went beyond typical disciplinary actions”. She was taken to the Seminole County Jail.

Kristy Crampton appeared in court on Tuesday. The judge gave her a $10,000 bond and told her not to have any contact with the child.
