Several details have already leaked about Sony’s upcoming State Of Play showcase, including a release date for Nioh 3.
Sony’s next State Of Play showcase kicks off on Wednesday night, but as is the tradition of every online broadcast, some announcements have already leaked ahead of time.
We already know the State Of Play will run for 35 minutes and will feature developer Housemarque’s Returnal spiritual successor Saros, along with ‘anticipated third party and indie titles’ and updates from some ‘teams at PlayStation Studios’ – implying at least one other first party title.
On the third party front, it seems one of the announcements will be a release date for Nioh 3, which has been leaked via a listing on Amazon Japan.
According to the listing, Nioh 3 will launch February 6, 2026 on PlayStation 5 and PC. Along with the standard edition, there’s a Treasure Box edition which comes with a B5-size official art book, a soundtrack CD, a desk mat, and a Sunekosuri (a cute yōkai monster) fur ball key chain.
Nioh 3, developed by Team Ninja, was announced in June this year with a limited time demo. It was slated for 2026, and considering this release date is one day shy of the original Nioh’s launch date of February 5, 2021, it makes some sort of marketing sense.

On the first party front, don’t expect Bungie’s delayed Marathon to make an appearance at the State Of Play. According to sources at Forbes, the sci-fi shooter will not be featured at all during the presentation.
It’s claimed the earliest we’ll see the shooter is November, although that is still a ‘maybe’, according to the publication’s sources. Marathon was set to launch on September 23 this year, across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, but it was delayed after mixed feedback in player tests and a plagiarism controversy.
As for what could appear, Insomniac’s Wolverine is apparently on track to launch next year, so we could see some kind of gameplay trailer or date reveal. Alternatively, there have been rumours around a 2D God Of War prequel, which is yet to be announced.
Sony also has Naughty Dog’s next game Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet and the live service shooter Fairgames in the oven (if the latter hasn’t been cancelled), while there’s been rumours around a Horizon live service title which we still haven’t yet seen.
Considering this State Of Play is being aired one day prior to the Tokyo Game Show, it’s likely many of the announcements will be geared towards a Japanese audience – such as Resident Evil Requiem, which is mysteriously absent from Capcom’s next showcase.
Some publishers have already announced titles ahead of the Tokyo Game Show. Sega recently announced Yakuza Kiwami 3, a remake of Yakuza 3, which will come bundled with a new spin-off titled Dark Ties, featuring antagonist Yoshitaka Mine. The game launches on February 12, 2026 on PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, Switch 2, and PC.
Additionally, Sega announced that Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut, Yakuza Kiwami, and Yakuza Kiwami 2, are heading to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on December 8, 2025. Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut was previously exclusive to the Nintendo Switch 2, and comes with additional cut scenes and a forgettable new multiplayer mode called Red Light Raid.
Yakuza Kiwami and Yakuza Kiwami 2 are already available on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, but with the upcoming Switch 2 versions in November, developer Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio has decided to release both games on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S as well (even though they are playable on the console already through backwards compatibility).
How to watch the September 2025 State Of Play
The presentation is scheduled to air on Wednesday, September 25 at 10pm BST on the official PlayStation YouTube channel. This translates to 2pm PT in the US and 11pm CEST in Europe.
