The founder of Expresso and SIC was honored this Tuesday by the communications sector, at the Meios & Publicidade Awards and the Superbrands Gala.
Francisco Pinto Balsemão’s contribution to the media and his unprecedented defense of freedom were recalled by Pedro Fino, CEO of Workmedia, which owns the publication “M&P”.

In the 21st edition of the Superbrands Gala, Francisco Pinto Balsemão was elected Personality of the Year.
In addition to the honors, Francisco Pinto Balsemão was also one of the winners of the “Meios & Publicidade” Awards. The podcast “Memories” won in the “Innovation in Radio/Podcast” category. Mónica Balsemão received the award, thanking the sector for celebrating her father’s capacity for innovation. “You can’t even imagine how happy he was to say that he was now a podcaster. It was just one of his many lives”, said Mónica Balsemão.
SIC was also elected media company of the year, having won a total of 21 M&P awards.

The founder of EXPRESSO and SIC recorded the reading of some pages of the book with his own voice. Then, the innovation agency Instinct took advantage of the excerpt and generated the voice of Francisco Pinto Balsemão to read the entire 1000 pages of the work. Accompanying Francisco Pinto Balsemão was journalist Clara de Sousa, who voices all the titles and subtitles of the work.
This was Francisco Pinto Balsemão’s third podcast on Expresso. The debut took place in 2023, with “Making the World Better”. On the occasion of the newspaper’s 50th anniversary, Balsemão interviewed 50 notable personalities from the most diverse sectors of society, including António Guterres, António Costa, Ramos Horta, Ricardo Araújo Pereira, Paula Amorim, Vasco de Mello, António Horta Osório, Joana Vasconcelos, António Damásio, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, among others.
