Police cordon off Sefton Park lake after ‘organs’ found in the lake

A large area of Sefton Park was cordoned off on Sunday, following reports of something unusual found in the lake.

Merseyside Police attended the park on June 8th after being called to investigate.

A video, shared online, showed police inspecting the area, with some people in the comments claiming that “bones” had been found in the water.

A worker at Sefton Park Hotel reported to the Echo that the police were in attendance at around 2pm. When the worker went to get a closer look, he saw something being fished out the water.

He explained: “I saw them [police] there around 2pm. I went over to see what was going on. It [the lake] was all cordoned off by police. When I went over a lad on a bike was winding the police up saying ‘ah you finally got it then.’

“He had a bucket and was fishing something out the lake. I was told it was bones and lungs. There was an inspector there taking notes, it gathered a big crowd.”

Though Merseyside Police confirmed they had sent officers to the park on Sunday, they revealed that the “bones and lungs” were in fact offal.

A police spokesperson stated: “We were contacted at 12.50pm yesterday, Sunday, June 8th, following reports suspected offal had been dumped in Sefton Park lake. Officers attended and it was confirmed to be offal.”
