Debbie Webster (Sue Devaney) issued a stern warning to brother Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell) in recent Coronation Street scenes after spending the night in a police cell.

When Kevin got a call from his sister informing him that she had booked a spa break, he was concerned, as she had been told to see her doctor after suffering a mini-stroke.

With Debbie refusing to give in, Kev begged her to call him when she needed picking up, as she had been warned not to drive for several weeks during her recovery.

However, it was Abi Webster (Sally Carman) that Debbie eventually called, and it soon became clear why – Debbie had spent the night at the police station.

Debbie was quick to explain that she had been arrested for being drunk and disorderly in a dessert shop, which Abi promptly joked about.

Though Abi apologised for being insensitive, Debbie insisted that she was glad she could joke about it instead of talking to her like a patient, as she was concerned most of her family would after the revelation of her dementia diagnosis.

She went on to admit that she hated not being in control, which was why she was struggling so much with her diagnosis.

After apologising to the dessert shop owner and being assured he’d drop the charges, Debbie asked Abi to keep her arrest quiet from Kevin and Carl Webster (Jonathan Howard), and she reluctantly agreed.

When they arrived home, Kevin wasted no time in showering her with questions on her whereabouts, leaving Debbie with no choice but to demand he ‘shut up’.

As Kevin revealed that he and Ronnie Bailey (Vinta Morgan) had found specialists and support groups that might be able to help, Debbie pointed out to Abi that this was why she didn’t want to tell him things, as she knew she’d be treated like a child.

Turning back to Kevin, she warned him to stop interfering, pointing out that the time would come when she needed his help, but for now he needed to stop micromanaging her.

Will he listen?
