Portugal occupies the 19th position in terms of median monthly family income, among the 27 EU Member States. At stake is a drop of one place compared to 2022, as Portugal was overtaken by Poland.
Pordata has gathered various data regarding the finances of the Portuguese, as part of the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, which takes place this Friday, October 17th.
On the other hand, according to the report, 16.6% of the population is at risk of poverty (17% in 2022). At stake are a total of 1.8 million people whose families have an income of less than 632 euros per month per capita.
According to the most recent data, collected in 2023, the reduction among families with children caused the weight of this indicator in Portuguese society to decline by 0.4 percentage points.
Studies also indicate that half of families have a monthly per capita income below 1,054 euros. At stake is a real increase of around 14%.
