In a joint statement published this Sunday, the Federal Consumer Protection Agency (Profeco) and the Ford automobile brand called for the review of more than 10,500 vehicles of the Bronco Sport and Maverick models due to possible failures in the battery welding.
The Mexican consumer protection office specified that the alert applies to 10,556 units of the Bronco Sport, years 2021 and 2022, and Maverick, years 2022 and 2023.
Profeco explained that the mechanical problem occurs in the 12-volt battery, which “could experience internal failures in the welding, causing sudden degradation while driving.”
The above, stated the organization “would trigger a loss of electrical accessories, including emergency lights, which could cause malfunctions.”
As a preventive measure, Ford Motor Company announced that it will inspect the vehicles, and if necessary, update or replace affected components, at no cost to owners.
In addition, the company promised not to deliver any vehicle possibly involved in this call without having been inspected and/or repaired.
Affected owners can validate the review by sending an email or calling the phone numbers of the company and authorized distributors.
The campaign to address the damage will be in effect indefinitely and began last April, Profeco indicated, while stating that it will monitor compliance with the alert.
