Actress and assistant director Patrícia Saramago has died at the age of 50, the Portuguese Cinema Academy announced this Wednesday, October 22, via Facebook.
“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Patrícia Saramago. Her unexpected and premature disappearance marks a profound loss for Portuguese cinema”can be read in the publication.
The Portuguese Cinema Academy states that Patrícia Saramago graduated from the Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema between 1993 and 1996 and dedicated herself to film editing and collaborated in numerous important national and international productions.
In Vanda’s Room (2000) e Don’t change anything (2009), by Pedro Costa; Fragile Like the World (2001) e The Portuguese (2018), by Rita Azevedo Gomes; With what voice (2009), by Nicholas Oulman; I was in Lisbon and I remembered you (2015), by José Barahona; Vadio – I Am Not a PoetStefan Lechner; Blocking (2021), by Sol de Carvalho; and The Inhabitants (2025), by Maureen Fazendeiro, were some of the projects that marked her career.
