The two councilors from the Socialist Party in the Cascais Chamber agreed to assume powers in the executive, through an agreement with the president of the municipality, Nuno Piteira Lopes (PSD), within a framework of “dialogue and cooperation” between them.
Speaking to Lusa, Piteira Lopes, elected by the Viva Cascais coalition (PSD/CDS-PP), said this Friday, October 31, that “there is an alignment between two political forces, for the good of Cascais and all Cascais residents”, which “for now, it is an understanding between the Viva Cascais coalition and the two elected by the Socialist Party, obviously maintaining the differences between each of the parties”.
“We reached an understanding, an understanding that results from the responsible reading of the electoral results of October 12th. The results clearly expressed the award of the presidency to Viva Cascais. But they also demonstrated the desire for a new cycle, greater balance and greater political cooperation”, stated councilor João Ruivo (PS), assuming that it is “an agreement with a sense of democratic responsibility, with transparency and commitment”.
Socialist councilors João Ruivo and Alexandra Domingos will assume, respectively, the areas of Development and Economic Promotion and Licensing of Economic Activities, and Fundraising, Shared Projects and Community Funds and Employment and Smart Cities Strategy.
