Lamar Jackson had an eventful night in Buffalo Sunday, including an unpleasant interaction with a fan.
Late in the third quarter of the Ravens’ 41-40 loss to the Bills, Jackson connected with wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins on a 29-yard touchdown to put Baltimore up 34-19. As the two celebrated near fans in the end zone, one Bills partisan hit Hopkins on top of the helmet and then did the same to Jackson.
Jackson, who threw for 209 yards and two touchdowns and added 70 rushing yards and one score, responded by shoving the fan with two hands.
“You have to think in those situations,” Jackson said following the game. “You have security out there; let security handle it. But I just let my emotions get the best of me.
“Hopefully, it doesn’t happen again. I learned from that.”

Bills say fan was punished
It’s tough to knock Jackson for reacting the way he did. We have seen home fans celebrate with players–the Lambeau Leap comes to mind–but there’s no reason for a fan to make contact with someone from the opposing team in that fashion.
Fortunately, the unidentified man was held accountable, as the Bills say he was ejected from the stadium.
Buffalo’s Fan Code of Conduct, via NBC News’ Rohan Nadkarni, states that “any irresponsible conduct will not be tolerated in the stadium parking lots or in Highmark Stadium, and in some cases may result in ejection from the game, revocation of season ticket privileges and/or arrest.”
A wild night in Buffalo
Overall, the first Sunday night game of the 2025 NFL season delivered in a major way. Jackson and his Bills counterpart Josh Allen were both sensational, and the two AFC Super Bowl contenders battled down to the wire.
The Ravens were in control for virtually the entire night and led 40-25 in the fourth quarter before Buffalo scored 16 straight points in the final four minutes to win on Matt Prater’s field goal as time expired.
“It took everybody there. I’m just proud of our team for staying in it,” Allen said. “No one on the sideline blinked. I mean, down 15 points, whatever we were with five, six minutes left. Staying with it, fans leaving the stadium, you got to play this game for 60 minutes. And that’s a really good outfit that we just played, and God willing, we take care of business how we’re supposed to and how we think we will.”
