AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) – Purses Filled With Passion, a local non-profit, is teaming up with the Salvation Army of Augusta to help women in need.
Purses Filled With Passion gives hygiene products to women staying at the Center of Hope Homeless Shelter.
Deborah Brooks, the founder of the organization, created the non-profit in 2019 to remind women who might be struggling that they are not forgotten.
“I saw other organizations doing something similar and I said, hey let me come up with something. What about purses filled with passion? I’m passionate about helping others,” Brooks said. “Loving on people. Everything you see here today, the purses, everything, they’re donated. Sometimes people send money and I go out and make purchases of different items and I put it into the bags for the ladies.”
Each purse has items like soap, toothpaste, or clothing for the cooler temperatures. The bags also contain inspirational books or cards.
