Qatar Charity launches a project to protect children in Syria news

Qatar Charity launched the “Our Children’s Safety” project in partnership with the Syrian Forum in the city of Azaz, with the aim of enhancing the protection of children affected by crises, and providing a safe and supportive environment for them and their families.

The launch of the project coincides with the upcoming Second World Summit for Social Development in Doha next week, which will focus the topics to be discussed on comprehensive policies that enhance fair opportunities for all and accelerate work on social inclusion.

According to Qatar Charity, more than 3,900 children and families will benefit from the project through a set of integrated activities that include psychological and social support sessions, awareness programs on child protection issues, training sessions for mothers and fathers, in addition to providing case management services for children most at risk.

The project also includes implementing the “Learning through Play” program to enhance children’s social and emotional skills and support the integration of children with disabilities, in addition to improving the readiness of the Child Protection Center in Azaz and providing the necessary equipment to ensure the continuation of high-quality services.

Assistant Director of Social Affairs and Labor in Aleppo, Muhammad Barakat, said during the opening ceremony, “This program is very important at this stage, especially since children are exposed to various risks represented by the remnants and effects of war, the loss of fathers and mothers, and perhaps the loss of the breadwinner.”

He added that the affected cases are in dire need of such centers that compensate them for what they lost during the years of war, thanking Qatar Charity, the Syrian Forum, and the supporters in Qatar for establishing such centers.

For his part, Director of Qatar Charity’s office in Turkey, Karam Ali, stressed that the project comes within Qatar Charity’s strategy aimed at protecting children’s rights and improving their psychological and social well-being in crisis areas, in line with its humanitarian principles of caring for children and mitigating the effects of conflicts on societies.
