Quality Street is adding a brand new flavour to classic chocolate mix

Quality Street has just unveiled a brand new treat that will be joining the line-up of classic favourites this year – but there’s a catch.

The limited-edition chocolate has a mystery flavour and Nestlé won’t be revealing what it is until December.

You also won’t find the new sweet in any of the tubs, boxes or tins sold in supermarkets as it’s only going to be available in very specific locations.

The mystery Quality Street will be sold exclusively in John Lewis and Waitrose stores as part of the pick and mix stations.

Fans of last year’s new Coffee Creme flavour will be pleased to know it’s also making a comeback alongside all your favourites like The Purple One, the Toffee Penny, Strawberry Delight and Orange Chocolate Crunch.

Entire cartons of Coffee Creme sweets will be available in John Lewis and Waitrose and shoppers can also create their own bespoke tins.

There’s even a new way to personalise tins at selected John Lewis stores, as shoppers will be able to print gift ribbons with loved one’s names and personalised messages on, to wrap around their tin.

These ribbons will be available at Oxford Street, Bluewater, Southampton, Milton Keynes, Liverpool and Cardiff.

If that weren’t enough, John Lewis is also going to be selling five different Quality Street baubles, inspired by vintage tins from over the years.

Talking about the new sweet, Rachael Mundy, marketing manager for gifting and seasonal at Nestlé Confectionery UK & Ireland, said: ‘Each year we look forward to bringing a limited-edition sweet into the mix to excite and delight Quality Street fans, but this year we’ve taken it a step further by keeping the flavour top secret.

‘We can’t wait to find out what the nation thinks the flavour is, and we’re very much looking forward to hearing some of the guesses.’

And Lisa Cherry, the Christmas buying manager at John Lewis, added: ‘We’re thrilled to be bringing Quality Street back to our stores for Christmas 2025, especially with the added excitement of a mystery sweet in the mix.

‘The pick and mix stations have become a much-loved festive tradition for our customers, and this year’s personalised ribbons and vintage-inspired baubles add an extra-special touch. We know families will enjoy guessing the new flavour while creating tins that are as unique as the people they’re gifting them to.’

Those keen to give the new chocolate a try can do so now at John Lewis on Oxford Street, where the Pick and Mix stall is already open. Other stores will be launching the sweets throughout October.

This comes after it was revealed that Quality Street tubs were going to be getting smaller this year.

In 2024, Quality Street tubs were 600g – but this year, they’re now 550g, amounting to a gut-wrenching 50g less chocolate.

Since each sweet varies in weight, it’s unclear how many sweets we’re losing in the process – but a Nestlé spokesperson confirmed to Metro that it’s generally the norm for Quality Street to switch it up each year.

‘Each year we introduce a new Quality Street range with formats, sizes, weights and RRPs based on a range of factors including the cost of manufacturing, ingredients and transport and the preferences of our customers and consumers,’ they detailed.

‘We think our 2025 range and pricing is competitive with a good variety of choice for Quality Street fans. Final prices are at the discretion of individual retailers.’

If you’re not a fan, shoppers recently revealed there’s a supermarket chocolate box thats ‘better’ than Quality Street and Roses.

The Big Mix from M&S costs £7 for a 650g carton or £12 for a huge 1.2kg tin and features a mix of 10 different sweets in colourful wrappers, suitable for vegetarians.

The selection includes Salted Caramel, Coffee Truffle, Hazelnut in Caramel, Cream Toffee, Milk Crème, Caramel Fudge, Strawberry Crème, Orange Crème, Biscuit in Caramel and a Butterscotch Éclair.

A shopper known as littlepieces gave them a 5/5 rating, writing: ‘Best chocolate box for Christmas!

While fussyshopper1 commented: ‘Great selection, better than the leading brands of chocolates that come in plastic tubs and tins.’
