You’re likely to find a Tashas restaurant in most high-end shopping malls in South Africa. We’re talking the Waterfront, Sandton City, Rosebank and others. Now, the Tashas Group is expanding operations boldly into the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
As such, the group says it plans to open as many as ten new restaurants in the UAE over the next two years. Tashas follows other chains, most notably Nando’s, which expanded first into the UAE and then further abroad en route to becoming an international success.
TASHAS UAE EXPANSION
According to an Arabian Business report, the latest Tashas Group expansion is worth AED100 million (R480 million). In a joint venture with Arab developer, Arada, the goal is to occupy prime locations in downtown districts of Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Starting with soon-to-launch flagship Tashas concept stores in Sharjah, Al Ain, Ras Al Khaimah and Nad Al Sheba.
Reports confirm the next UAE Tashas will open in December. Natasha Sideris, founder and group CEO says Golden Visa programmes are driving population growth in the Arab region. “Tashas all-day dining concepts cater to a broad demographic In Dubai and Abu Dhabi, and we are strategically located to draw strong footfall throughout the day. We also like to keep our South African roots when hiring staff, with 50% of staff initially hailing from home,” explains Sideris.
INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL PERKS FOR STAFF

Now with locations across in the UK, UAE and Saudi Arabia, Tashas regularly sends South African staff to international locations. Better still, in the UAE, staff members are given hotel accommodation upon arrival, as well as a starter package with a local SIM card and other necessities. In the UK, the group assists staff applying for visas, and provides English lessons if necessary.
