Rampage Jackson is offering an update on his 25-year-old son, Raja, who was arrested on Thursday over the beating of wrestler Syko Stu last month.
According to TMZ Sports, the UFC legend says his son is “doing OK” and is now back home waiting for the case to run its course. Raja was booked on a felony battery charge after he was seen on video brutally assaulting Syko Stu (real name Stuart Smith) on Aug. 24 during a Knokx Pro Wrestling event.
The assault left Syko Stu hospitalized in critical condition. Syko Stu’s family said he suffered trauma to both the upper and lower jaws, a laceration to his upper lip, and a fracture to the maxilla bone, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of several teeth. Syko Stu was discharged from the hospital a week later.
The video of the assault ultimately reached authorities at the Los Angeles Police Department, which opened an investigation. Raja was arrested on Thursday in Huntington Beach, California. TMZ Sports obtained footage of Raja being led out of his apartment complex in handcuffs. Raja has since posted $50,000 bond.
“I’m doing OK, I’m holding up well,” Rampage told TMZ Sports, adding that he understands the situation is out of his control.
“He f—ed up, he f—ed up,” Rampage continued. “He gotta learn his lesson.”
Rampage has been adamant about Raja being held accountable.
Earlier this month, Rampage told Uncrowned‘s Ariel Helwani that his son “should go to jail” over the incident to learn his lesson.
“I think that he should do a little time, do a little community service, go to anger management class, and therapy,” Rampage continued. “It wasn’t attempted murder. He wasn’t trying to kill that guy. That’s my son. I know my son. … Raja probably didn’t even know how bad he hurt that guy.”
