Over the past year, Red Lobster has encountered many changes. While the iconic Cheddar Bay Biscuits always have a prime spot on the table, other favorite menu items are getting a new twist. One popular shrimp meal is back, but this version is not quite as plentiful.
People may want to dine out, but they cannot stomach overpaying. The value meal wars might be part of the quick service restaurant world, but other national brands are evolving some of their endless food options. Red Lobster is taking that new approach with a favorite shrimp menu item.
What is Red Lobster’s Ultimate SpendLESS Shrimp?
While the Endless Shrimp has been a Red Lobster staple, like LobsterFest, that classic promotion has a new twist this year. Red Lobster’s SpendLESS Shrimp is this year’s promotion, and guests will have to decide on its value proposition.
The menu item is simple. Guests can order a plate of three classic shrimp dishes for $15.99. They are Garlic Shrimp Scampi, Shrimp Linguini Alfredo and Popcorn Shrimp.
The restaurant brand is betting that people are willing to spend $15.99 for a substantial dinner. It might not be endless amounts of food coming to the table, but money spent for the food received is designed to be a good value.
Earlier this summer, Red Lobster’s CEO Damola Adamolekun told Good Morning America “We want to be exciting, relevant and compelling for our guests — and one of the ways you do that is through menu innovations.” The goal has been to keep prices down while still bringing promotions and new menu items to the table.
Red Lobster is betting that guests will appreciate the reasonable price with a generous food portion. Sometimes people do not need plate after plate of food. Spending less but still getting a substantial meal is a value that cannot be beat.

Red Lobster Adds Value Through Menu Innovation and Price.
While people will debate if the SpendLESS Shrimp is worth the price, the restaurant brand is finding other ways to bring value. The Seafood Boils are a prime example. The hearty serving for the cost has resonated with guests. That item is now a permanent menu item.
Additionally, Red Lobster has focused on its bar program. Eye catching and innovative option help to create a buzz on social media. Getting people to snap and share the dining experience is just as important as offering them a cost-effective meal.
Endless Shrimp is gone, but SpendLESS Shrimp has value. Red Lobster is betting that this promotion will bring people to the table.
