You might have noticed that we’ve hardly heard anything from Elma since Love Island All Stars in the winter. She and Sammy made it to the final of the show, and then basically went off radar.
Usually after Love Island, the girlies in particular are everywhere. They get new opportunities, are doing interviews all over the place and are posting on Instagram every day. Not for Elma!
It was recently announced Elma and Sammy have split up, but even that was confirmed through sources, and not directly from them. So, what’s going on?! Well, Love Island Reddit has a compelling theory, and has put her silence down to what happened in the villa.
“I’m really surprised Elma has remained silent and hasn’t done any public interviews/podcasts since leaving the villa,” the post said. The post and the comments underneath then went on to talk about how Elma had lots of arguments with Ekin-Su in the villa, and has probably seen other Islanders come off the show and receive backlash.

Reddit speculated Elma may want things to “blow over” before she fully returns to being a public figure. Many said she might have seen people like Georgia Steel come out the villa to loads of hate, and won’t want the same. Others speculated that as soon as the current season of Love Island is over, we’ll hear more from her. That will be because there will be a new crop of Islanders getting scrutinised. It’s a bleak reality. But still, very true.
“She saw Georgia S receive hate last year and how it affected her, every Islander is aware that there’s a chance they’ll be received negatively,” the poster said. One comment replied: “Letting it blow over is the smart thing to do.”
A further comment said: “She’s damned if she does speak up and she’s damned if she doesn’t speak up with posts like these. This level of scrutiny of someone’s behaviour shows these people can’t really win. It’s probably best she’s lying low as it’s not escalating things further.”

Another said she hasn’t been completely silent, given Elma and Sammy have been on TOWIE since Love Island All Stars. “She was definitely shocked by all the hate but I’m pretty sure the week after they left the villa her and Sammy were back filming for TOWIE! So she’s probably busy with that,” they said.
One comment added it might not be as simple as that. “Even when the dust has settles, I feel Elma is the type of person that will still say she was right and doesn’t regret anything she did especially as the Islanders have been saying how wrong she was treated and the public got it all wrong,” they said. “Staying quiet and not granting interviews is her way of not owning up to her mistakes.”
