Why We Love This Deal
While some have succumbed to the allure of the electric mountain bike, others are still willing to huff and puff up hills and over ridges. But the prices for top mountain bikes can easily climb in excess of $6,000. That’s why this REI Co-op house-brand bike, which is made with the same components as other leading brands, is so appealing.
Typically $3,399, an already middle-of-the-road price, the Co-op Cycles DRT 3.3 Mountain Bike is now 40% off, bringing the price down to just north of $2,000. If you’re serious about stepping into mountain biking, this is an excellent way to dip your toes into the fray.

The DRT 3.3 is an everybody’s sort of mountain bike with a low barrier to entry. With sizes ranging from XS to XL, just about any rider build can be accommodated (though there is a hard 300-pound body-plus-gear weight limit). When you combine this with REI’s generous policies, it becomes obvious why this is a go-to bike for anyone looking to get their toes wet in mountain biking.
Everyone gets REI’s base 90-day return policy with the bike, a year of free adjustments (bikes need adjusting from time to time, especially as they get broken in), in-store bike assembly, and access to bike experts at REI bike shops. Then, REI Co-op members get 20% off shop services and free tubing with the inevitable flat tire repair. Members also get a full year for returns.
It all wraps up to be a great value for the money on a full-sus bike. And that’s especially true when you consider the rampant rumors that essentially all Co-op bikes are made with Giant’s frames, a claim backed up by former employees. With minor hiccups (the pedals aren’t included with the bike), the DRT 3.3 Mountain Bike provides tremendous value and convenience for the price.
What Riders Are Saying
Though reviews are about as limited as one can expect for a bike that retails for an MSRP of $3,399, 100% of reviewers at REI do recommend the bike, and absolutely none of them have the “This review was collected as part of a promotion.” disclaimer text we sometimes see.
One biker commented on the DRT 3.3 after a year of riding it, saying it is “so much better than my front suspension bike” for the greens, blues, and flow blacks they ride in North Carolina.
Another rider said, “This bike is awesome and so is the REI bike team,” and stated the DRT 3.3 “blew me away instantly” while testing out bikes with REI bike staff.
The Co-op Cycles DRT 3.3 Mountain Bike is now 40% off, making it a great time to get one. However, as with a majority of REI discounts, the bike is now discontinued, meaning no more are being made. As it sells out, it sells out for good.
