In a city where seconds can decide between life and death, medicine has found a new pulse in technology: that of digital networks capable of linking urgent need with immediate medical response.
The Mexico City consolidates a model that unites human capacity with technological intelligence. Telemedicine, operated from C5, is a strategy to bring the diagnosis closer to those who need it, regardless of distance, traffic or hospital saturation.
Channeled from the 9-1-1 line, A group of specialists in emergencies and pre-hospital emergencies remotely evaluate risk situations. Through a triage system they determine the dispatch of ambulances or medical attention in real time through a video call.
This year alone, 69,298 medical interventions have been recorded. Telemedicine, almost a quarter resolved remotely.
Telemedicine is, thus, a public policy where medicine focused on the hospital and that anchored in risk management, preventive care and remote diagnostic capacity converge. This is a cultural change: the doctor does not always touch the patient, but accompanies him or her with the same responsibility.
This area, promoted during the pandemic by the then Head of Government and now President Claudia Sheinbaum, It finds in the public policies of the local president Clara Brugada the strengthening to expand its reach and efficiency.
