AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) – On June 13th, around 1:00 am, Richmond County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a domestic situation on the 300 block of Indian Trail Court.
The complainant reported that her 70-year-old husband was inside the residence, armed with a firearm, and possibly experiencing medical or mental health issues.
Upon deputies entering the home, deputies heard two gunshots and were unable to get the subject to exit the residence.
The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office S.W.A.T. Team was contacted and responded to the incident location; S.W.A.T. Team members were able to successfully enter the residence and apprehended the individual without injury.
The man was then handed over to medical personnel and transported to the hospital for further evaluation.
Surrounding neighbors were evacuated from their homes during the incident but have since returned.
No injuries were reported during the incident and no further information is available at this time.
